Xmas Present Help

My Dad has a VW bus. It is one of those with the pick-up rear end. It has a 944 suspension, and a '71 911T motor. He wants a good manual for the engine. I thought, "this 'll be easy, get the Bentley Manual for the right year..." The Bentley Manuals don't seem to cover that year. The factory manuals are out of my budget range. At one point I remember having a scan of the factory manuals, but I sure can't find the file, and i imagine Porsche wouldn't look kindly on me having it anyway. Does anyone have any suggestions?

That sounds like a real cool machine. I have dreamed of doing an older bus like this: . 3.2 ,lowered, 911 suspension. fuchs wheels, h 4's big stinger sticking out the back etc.., you get the picture. I think that the haynes porsche 911 manual has pretty good coverage on the early 911's

I've got a scan of an early manual that i found on a link here. It's too big to e-mail. PM me and we'll figure it out.

Payback Time

I am still confused about the Bentley Manual. Is it true that their manuals don't cover the early 70s, or am I missing something?

Here is a picture of the vehicle in question. There's a '71 T engine (the last of the carbureted 911 engines) hiding in there, but Dad hasn't sent me a pic of it. You gotta love the old school 911 badge on the back of this bad boy in disguise.

I think this engine should have been a factory option in VW Buses.

Mike all you really have for the early years is the factory manuals, which really were meant for the factory guys and the Haynes manual. Amazon carries the Haynes manual in both new and used versions here: http://www.amazon.com/Porsche-911-1965-1989-Haynes-Manuals/dp/1850106983/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1228336055&sr=8-1

Unfortunately the Haynes manual really glosses over a lot of stuff on the engine.
