67 911 soft window paint prep

Hi,

I have a 67 911 soft window that I am preparing for a re-paint (from an ugly red back to the original Irish Green.

All the large surfaces down to metal however, I cannot figure out how to remove the soft window framing - I removed the bolts and tensioner handles but do not see where the remaining bolts are - any help is appreciated.

Continuing, I have removed most of the leather from below the roll bar but - cannot figure out how to remove the aluminum roll bar cover - not even able to determine how to remove the rubber from the front of the roll bar...

Thanks in advance for your help in making this project a success.
Scott

Scott,
You will find three bolts attaching the bottom hoop of the window to the chassis. You will need to take off the rear panel to find these. They are kinda buried basically under the edge of the window. There is also a screw per side where the bottom hoop attaches to the Targa bar structure. You will need to take off the interior padding of the Targa bar to access these. I posted images of all the fastening locations somewhere on this site or the Early 911 S Registry.
The Targa bar is attached with quite a few fastners. There are two stud going into the wheel well. These can be covered with years of road debris and undercoating. Penetrating oil is recommended since these have a habit of breaking off when trying to remove the nut.
There are also various screws under the weatherstripping which also attach it to the car. Unless your weatherstripping is loose, it is a bear to get off in a condition which will allow you to reuse it.
Good luck.
