In the Excellence article the car was called "Rhumba" by the original owner. It's a quality build and a real beast, according to the article. IMO, it's a really beautiful hot rod!

Any one else have updates? I had to take mine to a different painter. But FINALLY go it back into the garage to assemble everything. Working on putting the Aero mirrors back together.

It's been a busy 3 years and I could have done some work on the car, but that would have caused unnecessary stress to our family life. So the car sat, and I pretty much loss interest in most things Porsche.

With the new house I have a bit more room to work in, and the kids are now a little less dependent. So with the "Fat Bastard" Carrera sold and some sympathy from my wonderful wife, I now have motivation and a little more spare time to work on the car.

Some of the old timers may remember "Bastard" my 1976 911S, the car that started the whole thing...in the original skin at my first DE many many moons ago.

And then there was that whole backdate thing ... this was the last time the car saw track duty. I finished the backdate and took it to Gingerman for a shakedown. After that weekend the car got striped in anticipation of a repaint. Well, it never got put back together....

So now....the last shot of poor "Bastard" before the plastic surgery...

Over the weekend (betweeen distractions and working until 5AM one night), the major pieces got hung. I have a lot of work ahead of me yet, but the major hurdle of cutting off the quarter panels is behind me.

The widebody kit is WIDE!

HOLY S*8T Souk! that is a ton of carbon GOODNESS. next time I am up there in your woods.. I MUST swing by.

Pretty cool, but this is an old thread, and I'm pretty sure he parted out the car...

Hi Guys...I'm pretty busy with life these days and don't get on here much. But...

I still have the carbon fiber bits. The white car is not getting the carbon wide body kit, as it is being built into a 911R/RS street rod. I did acquire a second car that has the same Getty widebody kit in fiberglass. It is a fully caged race car, but I'm building it to be street legal should I choose to drive it to certain shows or just for hooning on my back roads. Since it has the same body kit, I will be able swap the body for race (fglass) and street (carbon). The green car is the caged car and in the second picture is both cars...the white car is getting full Carrera quarter panels and custom made 911R fenders that Mark at Getty Design made for me.

I stand corrected! And glad I do... The cars are coming along! Looking good!

Thanks for the update, Sook!

You're always welcome Eric?

Here's what the "Original Bastard" looks like today. Just have to find time to finish welding and get it to the paint shop.

I'm racing SpecMiata these days and have a few other projects or cars to distract me, so it's slow going on the "Bastard."

Put a new Setrab 72row oil cooler in the front, she runs great, took it for a spin around the block and had some older gentleman yell at me to "slow down" I yelled back "it looks faster than its going"

The stock 993 exhaust sounds great, and the engine really pulls nicely!
just need to find a ways to smog it and get it road legal to really put it thru the paces.
A firefighter buddy of mine just got a 2000 Vette so we need to go cruise Mulholland!

I've got the interior out to lay some dynamat type sound deadening down.

We last heard of your smog endeavors. Once it's all sorted, please do let us know how it goes. I'd definitely like to hear the tale since I'm prepping for a 3.6/3.2 swap that needs to be Cali legal.

Ah! Better I different ways in my eyes. Love the long nose/horn detail and those mirrors!

How do you like spec Miata? I've been debating jumping into that or spec Boxster for a while now...

Good looking conversions.....
I'm selling my exhaust off of my 965 conversion....
Its a Fabspeed cat bypass with Fabspeed single in/ dual out Carrera Performance muffler.
The tips are Fabspeed 965/993 tips
Sounds great....with a bolt on bump in performance!
Looking to get $1200

Looks like we'll have to wait until at next year (hopefully 2 years) to find out. Went into the DMV to take it out of non-op and at least get the ball rolling. I was only asked for proof of insurance, I came back later that day supplied the info and walked out with new plates and tags!

Took it for a spin to fill up the tank and confirmed that the wavetrac in the tranny is working! What a kick in the pants. Now I just need to find all my seatbelt bolts.
