If you are concerned about dragging the spoiler or underside , DON'T lower it.

Believe it or not, that's about the right ride height (or even a little lower) per Porsche specs. It looks too high because, by comparison, most people have slammed theirs too low. The nose should be a couple degrees down relative to the tail, measured by placing a bubble protractor or digital protractor on the bottom door sill.

It will handle and ride better where it is. I'm working with someone right now whose car has been lowered at both ends by more than 2". He's considering raising it back up some because it's harsh on the street.

Very slight angle .... not sure what that translates to in degrees however

I'm gonna leave it alone I think.. to my eyes it seems high, but I understand your point on ride quality. Don't really want it more harsh....

The front looks too high and this is easy to change. Mine is lower and I welded a bigger tow hitch to the stock location for a SC. The great thing is I take a chunk out of other people's driveways if they are too steep. And I'm still on my original chin spoiler.

It will make your car look better and handle better at speed. I've had mine over 6,000 RPM in top gear, which equates to about 150 MPH and it felt fine. Chin spoiler no rear wing.

Car just looks like it is sitting high I'm afraid to lower it too much for fear of dragging the front spoiler on my driveway

Rear wheel

Front wheel

back in the day Bruce Anderson used to recommend fender heights of 25 1/2" front and 25" rear, That would provide a slight nose down stance

16 w/ 205/55 and 225/50 were o.e. fit on most SC & Carrera, It appears that you have 7 & 8 x16 which is a nice upgrade but doesn't effect suspension specs

'75-'83 US 911 had unnaturally high suspension spec

normal is 108+/5mm front and 12+/5 rear, but depending on intended use lower has been spec'd requiring other mods to accommodate depending on how low the car is

if you lower yours do include a corner balance

That would be myself. 22" front and 24" rear. Pic is too large to upload and I haven't figured out how to resize. Take curb cuts at an angle to avoid dragging. I'll probably go 23" and match with a level for the rear, 25?

factory method

if you lower yours do include a corner balance
Forgot to add that 25 1/2" front fender is ~140mm factory

and that if the front fender lip is 1/4 to 1/2" higher measure than the rear then you have ~ the desired nose down

Sadly this is it 10 years after those photos were taken:

At the time of the accident car only had 65,000 miles and was a garage queen 1 owner - before me. ((Be careful on those off ramps in TX after a rain, with what appeared to be a dump of pellet gravel from a gravel truck...very, very slick.))

Was a blessing in disguise as the coupe (that replaced it) now has 210,000 miles and is driven 2-3 times a week. Didn't know I hated owning a low mileage near perfect 911...from upkeep, door ding paranoia, to "shiny Porsche" attracting eyes and potentially thievery - always worried about it I felt.

Interior, various suspension parts and engine sitting in climate controlled storage. Everything else has been sold or claimed...

Now for a coffee run in the "not perfect" coupe

That Disco though

Riding on 205/55 on 16x7 ET23 F and 225/50 on 16x8 ET10 R. Group4 LMZ wheels. I have just the tiniest 3mm and 5mm spacers front and rear — I could probably double both.

Ride height is practical for spirited back roads & NYC parkways :-)

To your eye, and mine, and all others that know what makes a car look good.

It would be a very nice looking car other than the ridiculous ride height lol.

Spoilers are made of rubber, so they do flex, also, they detatch and can be replaced with ease.

Great thread.

One of the main reasons I bought this car because it's stance was perfect on the online pictures. Visual work of art. And it's stock Euro height. Almost unbelievable it was so perfect for being 45 years old.

I just love the stance of the ‘81 we bought a few years back. I know it is a bit of a no no to have a front spoiler without a rear, however I think it helps set the stance that I love on ours.

The PO had done the lowering.
