Does this at all impact the lines in the tunnel?

Yes, the lines in tunnel have rubber ends at the front that are susceptible to cracking. The part of the lines in the tunnel are hard plastic and I haven't seen that part fail.

I have never checked mine. Sounds like its time for alittle investigation. Is all the modern rubber good?

I don't know that the new rubber is different, but it's new.
Some lines through the tunnel aren't available all the time so some folks have used braided lines or some other substitute.

I guess one of the nice things about the expense of changing all my fuel lines over to braided stainless is that they are not affected by ethanol. It is sad that the govt is shoving this down our throats without the inhibitors like they are doing in Sweden. I am all for the loss in mileage to support cleaner fuel but not at the risk to the expensive mechanical parts in our cars.

although my carbs were running rich I noticed about a 1 mile or 1.5 mile lowering in mileage from about 16mi/gal to about 15mi/gal I was on a cross country ride with nothing exciting to do between destinations. If not for that it would be difficult to accurately measure by just driving it. small gas flow meters are available at marine stores
