I bought a pair due to this thread years back.
never installed them.
Got to know the absolute lack of rear view due to a friend having them on his G.
catastrophic!
As many people speed on the German Autobahn, you nearly have to keep a close eye on what's coming behind you as in front.
So it's a NO for me.

Sche!sse,

That is bad news Flo. I will give it a shot anyway and see if adjusting them more fore or aft, or higher works. Did you friend get the convex? Understand the standard mirrors are useless. One poster said that if you adjust the mirrors outward so you don’t see the rear quarters, they work better. I will follow the video so they are reversible

Put the standard flat lens back on my drivers mirror. The convex gives a wider field of view but with no depth perception and you can't tell what's coming if more than 100 yds (92 meters) behind you.

I tried the Vitaloni's on my 77 targa but found that between placement position (on flag bases) and small size of mirror (convex) it was a struggle to see the passenger mirror so went with 993 mirrors instead. JMHO

I installed mine using the factory mirror pivot bolt. The aluminum spacer is 16mm long, cut from a 3/4" tube, available at the local hardware store. I had to file the PVC cap down a bit as well, and give it a notch to clear the Vitaloni base.

The tension that the washer/PVC cap creates will hopefully stay put, as it allows for easier installation of the base to the door. It allowed me to pivot the mirror out of the way to tighten the base bolt.

Have to admit, the view is a bit compromised, at least in the garage. Looks neat, though, and is a legit tie to the 934 and 935... Hopefully it's manageable on the road. Will find out when the rest of the car is done I guess.

I've been enjoying this mod every drive. The look is near perfect and the performance has been excellent!

Not sure I'm entirely comfortable with that.

Let me know if you want a pair of the mirrors! $90
I know this is an ancient post, but the mistake this poster made for the drivers side is not mounting the mirror as far back on the mirror base (toward the pointed end) as possible. I have minimal interference. You want the Vitaloni mirror front level to the flag mirror front and same with the passenger side. The passenger side was a major PITA to get optimal visibility. I had to shave the mirror surround on the inside in order to get it to pivot to where it was functional. Fortunately the shaving is invisible from the exterior.

I ordered two convex mirrors since most of my driving is in the countryside and not much freeway or multi lane and always head check. They are super light compared to the flags and oh so aero. We will see how they are once I hit the road.

haha, how I don't care what I said yesterday

here we go. re-shaped the bases and will figure a balljoint fixture to incline/adjust the mirror housing

Update: very good visibility from driver side. Even with extensive shaving and modification to the passenger side, mediocre.
