2.0T with 2.0L/E p&c
hi , i need your help ...
i am thinking for a rebuild of my 1969 2.0T engine , i know the best would be to upgrade to 2.0S specs ... i already have crank and rods from the S and i have E cams.. i just need the P&C. I found a nice NOS set of P&C of the 2.0L/E ( i think they are the same) what will be the difference between using this instead of the 2.0S ones.. a lot or just a little less power?? thanks to all steve ![]() |

If you are going through the expense why not increase displacement a bit? If you stay at 2.0 I doubt you would see much difference, maybe, less than 5 to 8 percent, using the E cams and E or S pistons. Check cylinder head and distributor curves as well. Differences between the T and E and S cylinder head ports and valve sizes. I can't recall from memory the differences, but believe there are some.

Actually with E cams and increased compression you will get a lot more than 7-8% increase. I would guess at least 20hp. Remember the 69T had 8.6: compression and made 110 DIN HP. The E with different cams, 9.1:1 amd fuel injection has 140 DIN HP. The S had 9.9:1 compression. That may be a bit much for today's gas with no computer control. When I rebuilt my 69E used JE pistons at 9.5:1 compression, my e cams, 2.2 L(from a 71) heads, and 2.2L cylinders bored to 86mm. This gives me 2.3 L displacement. The 2.2 L heads have bigger valves the the 69 heads. Althought the combustion area is larger with the 2.2 heads than the 2.0 heads the custom pistons took care of that to because they were designed for the 2.2 heads to give 9.5:1 compression. Your T heads are great to bore because they are all cast iron. The E and S cylinders were biral. Cast Iron liners with aluminum fins. The T cylinders should have more wall thickness after boring.
Love the result. It has much better low rpm torque than the original 2.0. And still revs to 7000 in a heartbeat. Just some ideas. Wayne's book on rebuilding has lots of other combinations. You will only be limited by your "budget"(What's that!) Below is car at track. ![]()

The S with 9.9:1 static compression had quite a bit lower dynamic compression due to the extremely narrow S camshaft lobe separation angle.
