I wouldn't flare 501's or that 911.

-clothing analogy, just for you. Think about it.

A very good analogy. I had full intentions of keeping it narrow and with a 3.2 would be a great sleeper that gets used all day and put away wet without a thought. As I have envisioned, the RS rear is a 90% cosmetic addition which will look the part just as much as the car does now, just a little wider, sexier. it won't look overdone like so many other cars.

Besides, flares are easy to go back to narrow body if it doesn't work out or look right.

Ahh... I think I'm noticing flared, distressed jeans these days.... of course no longer worn by everyone unlike the 70s. I see flares looking good on that car... can't wait what kind of sandals she'll get.

Someday it will get these depending on available tires. The cookies are going to Lancia Stratos bronze.

You might want to ask Kenikh about that one. :-/ ...tho' I do agree with you that it won't look too overdone. But still, why mess with 'perfection'? Just drive and enjoy.

...maybe you enjoy doing bodywork?

Kind of sick today, so had a little fun.

Quite some time ago now.

With my friend Janus' 8x16 D90s with 225/50/16s all around. Even with junk tires, big difference in feel and cornering.

Last weekend.

Easily the best car I've ever owned. So ugly, so much fun.

I would recommend going back to the more period correct cookies or maybe finding some fuchs or fuch replicas in 16s. The rims above look very late 80s, early 90s - 928ish. Perhaps you can find some good tires to keep that great feeling. I went with Yokos S drives in a 15 and they seem to have plenty of dry grip.

Yeah, they aren't the best look. The goal is a set of these wheels, newly made as 15s. THey should be available in 8x9x16 later this spring. Will also be doing a complete suspension refresh in April of next year and will be attending to the corner balance then, overall weight of the car should be down to 2100 too.

To say that you were "under the weather" when you mounted Janus' 964 wheels on your long nose is a bit of an understatement Shaun

Please put those cookies back on for us, please?

Long gone Tim. Plus, as you've seen my car, you know I'm not one to care much about how it looks.

Finally, getting the car back together. Just got some cad plated hardware back (have a ton to sort out) and a set of Rebel Racing rear bushings. Hoping to get the back of the car on the ground tomorrow with 29mm Sanders hollow bars. Found one of my front A-arms is best in the scrap bin, so if anyone has a pair of early arms or a good passenger side arm with U-tab for through-body sway bar, please let me know.

Rebel Racing goodness, Clint makes a great product.

quite a lot to unpack still.

Shaun. Always liked the ethos with which you approach using the car. I do still really like those first pics with the cookies on your car, the whole feel of it is just right, but I respect your direction with the Campagnolo / Group 4 wheels. I think it could look great.

Well, it looks like I get to build the dolly I've always wanted to. Have a little welding work to do, don't think the car will be on the road any time soon.

Worse than this is the outside of the torsion bar tube is bad as well. The inside of the tube (inboard of the longitudinal) is fine. A lot of work.

LOL! You better believe it does! I'm going with 10x16 Can-Am wheels, just 17 pounds each, period correct coolness (to my eye) and I'll be able to run 265s in the rear at a minimum. The wheel below has a rock hard 245 on it just for fitment, it's a little small for the wheel; a set of fronts will be cut down to 8x16 or I'll go with Fuchs as the car goes to an ST look but with 8 and 10 inch custom flares.

Thanks! I think the future iteration that I'm going for will be everything the original was, and more.
