Convertibe mechanic broken

Hi Guys,

I noticed a couple of days ago on my 1990 C4 convertible that the motor of my convertible roof was making strange noises. Today while opening , a major part of the roof mechanic broke.
I looked it up and could not find the part. Can somebody help. I have no idea where to get and how to replace [img]

Thanks Orry

If it's the main bow (which it sounds like to me), Porsche only sells the complete piece which includes both the right and left bow as a complete unit . The part is expensive and you probably only need either the right or left side. You might look for the part from a Porsche savage company where you'll save a lot of money. Hopefully, the broken part didn't puncture your canvas top.

They don't just wear out and break. The usual causes include an out of aligned top, a bad motor, or worn cable and these parts probably need replacement to.

You are looking for 911.561.927.00 or 911.561.928.00

Be prepared, price is not for the faint of heart...

Do you need passenger or driver side? PM me, I have one available

check ebay, they often have top bows & arms for sale

Where were the noises coming from? the back seats, or up in the header where the latching motors are?

My bets are:
1) bad latching motor, and the roof started retracting before it was unlatched
2) Raising/lowering transmisions out of sync, maybe even a broken cable. The roof tends to eat itself if the motors are out of sync.

I went through the whole testing procedure on my dad's 86 cab, and wrote this testing DIY:
