Post Uknown object velcro'd under glove compartment

Some sort of sensor fell down from under passenger side foot well of my 91 C2. Looks like a mutant EKG sensor. 1 wire going to a round disk with 3" diameter. Disk is shiny black and soft. Wire emanates from around the climate controller. Seems to have originally had double sided tape on it but previous owner tried to velcro it back.

Any clues?

Also, if anybody has unknown heat coming from passenger side foot well, it is probably because the metal hose (with paper around it) carrying heat from heat exchanger to front of car is probably cracked. Mine was. Just remove rug-covered plastic piece directly in front of passenger door and you will see the hose. With car running and engine hot, you will feel hot air if hose is broken. Seems this is a common problem.

Mike

Maybe it's the ever-popular turbo pop-off valve whoosh sound simulator!

Are you the subject of any federal investigation, that you are aware of?

Jeez. Is everyone sniffing glue tonight? I guess I won't post the message how I seem to black out at high speeds and when I come to, the clock has advanced 20 minutes;-)

Sounds like time to contact Leland and ol Robby the Robot! The side benefit of contacting Leland is the water canon will really clean your interior!

It may really be a microphone. Does your car have a cell phone installed? Some of the cell phones have a "hands off" option that can be retrofitted to the car that includes a microphone. On my car, the PO had the microphone sort of dangling from a pillar. This was a tiny microphone, but I've seen flat transducers that sound like what you're describing. I couldn't stand looking at the thing, so I traced all the wiring back, removed it, and then coiled it up under the dash. Some of the "hands off" transducers for sound pick up have an appearance similar to what you're describing. The wiring for my "microphone" (which is inactive...the last thing I want is for people to start bugging me on weekends while I'm driving!) leads into what looks like the climate controller but it actually loops back under the console to the phone.

Don't know if that's it or not, but it's something to consider (I can't see your part from here!).

Good Luck,

Bill Wagner

Well, I have couple those installed around my car. In my case they are burglar alarm sensors that are triggered when car is being shaken/touched.

With my cabriolet...I have a motion detector to activate an alarm when someone sticks a hand inside with the top down.

I rather alarm the car with the top down as opposed to the top up. Going thru the top with a knife and THEN having the alarm go off is not my idea of security....

But you coupe and targa guys dont have to worry about that....
