Question Windshield Washer Nozzle Removal

How does the windshield washer nozzle come out? Do I just need to pull up from the top, or is there some retaining device in the trunk area that I have to figure out how to get off and then back on without actually being able to see it?

The drivers side nozzle is plugged and isn't letting fluid through. I've already poked through the holes as far as I can from the top, but still no luck. I just purchased new one-valves and 'T''s for the system so it should just be the nozzle.

Scott

SCott, before you try to remove the jet, you might want to check the check valve located just below the jet. I had the same problem and it was the check valves. 81'SC

I did see some fluid pump through briefly when I first attempted to use them today, but you are right and I should check the valve. It is brand new, so I was hoping it would be fine.

Scott, to verify your check valves are ok, disconnect your hose before the valve, if it shoots water out, the valve is plugged up.

To get the actual squirter piece out you just reach it from the under-side and while pulling it a bit towards the front of the car, push it up. Make sense? Should be real easy.

I was troubleshooting my windshield washer system last summer and here's what NOT to do:

DON'T take a pair of pliers and start yanking on the plastic nozzles from the top hoping to get them out....you will end up scratching the paint and the pliers will keep slipping.... very frustrating.

For me, it ended up being a bad check valve.....

also make sure the line to that nozzle is connected and the water is not running inside the car.

If you've reamed out the nozzles good, just had the valves replaced and saw some fluid come out when you first used them, you might want to check to make sure you've got enough fluid in the reservoir. When mine gets low, the drivers side gets wimpy and then quits. You could also check the nozzle by using the intensive cleaning function. If it works, the nozzle is ok.

If your gonna take them out reach under the cowl and you have to squeeze to tabs together and push up, i replaced them both for like 15 bucks with gaskets and they do look nice and new instead of faded, Kevin
