Porsche Crest Changing Bumperettes

I have a '78 euro sc with the skinny bumpers in back, it is a turbo look conversion so i wanted to have the more masculine look of the american bumpers. Is it possible to change them easily? I think i will have to drill a third hole but do i need to move/ change the other two? and will this change actually improve the look of my car in your opinions?

Help appreciated
Thanks,
Nick

Wrong direction.... IMHO ..... stay narrow, stay light. Besides "looks" you don't want to add weight on that end of the car.

I'll trade. Your skinny bumperettes for my larger federalized versions. Send a PM if you like.

Here's a pic of mine:

Nope - I actually like the rearward facing double Ds on my 930 and think that cars with them removed look more anemic (but each to his/her own, of course). . .

It's a personal choice. The fat ones weigh more. I like mine with no bumperettes!

I've had mine off before, didn't weight them though, but based on the "hand scale", I would say they are an easy 5-10 pounds each . . .

I think they (US Bumps) look just fine on a Carrera/SC, if a whale tail is in place....on a Targa, that is. I wouldn't spoil the lines of a coupe with a big tail, only would have a duck on there. Still, I think the Euro tits are just too much less than a handful..... Best on a coupe to have NONE....and fill the holes. $.02
And the Turbo looks just great, btw....

I agree that if track speed & performance are your priorities, don't add bigger & heavier bumpers, obviously. I have those bigger American bumpers, though, and am glad I have them:
1) I think they do look better on my car
2) I "love tapped" the rear end into a wall while backing out last week (almost had a stroke), but upon further inspection discovered zero noticeable damage to the car - thanks to the bumpers.

Take them off much cleaner look. See thread about removal. Just need to fill in a few holes and worry about license plate light

Yes, you need another bumper or drill holes, I have a complete bumper with bumperetts to trade, I'm back dating my SC to 74 Carerra style. Where are you located, any pix of your bumper??

Thumbs up

do whatever you want to your car. if you like the larger bumperettes, then put them on. you're the one that has to live with the car, you might as well be happy... but whatever you do, don't leave them off, i don't think the bumpers look right without something there.

Ive been known to appreciate double D's, some E's and even a pair of G's, but these days my tastes run to slim and narrow perfectly proportioned.
