Engine compartment bracket

I was cleaning my engine compartment on my 82 SC yesterday and noticed something. On the left side middle just below the lid edge is a small bracket with a threaded insert. Its above the electrical equipment on the drivers side. Does anyone know what its for? Is there a cover that protects the electronics? At work so can't post a picture.

Yes, there is a cover that goes over the electrical panel that is secured by two bolts, one at the top and the other at the bottom. From your description and without a picture, it sounds like the top bracket for the bolt of the panel cover. If I can find a quick pic, I will post it and you can confirm it that's what you are talking about.

Do you know the part number for the cover. I would like to replace it. I live in Oregon and would like to protect the electronics.

Your best bet may be to call around to Porsche recyclers of post an ad on the Parts forum and locate a used one. I would think they would be plentiful in a salvage yard.
