Second' Drag it home and start cleaning. You never know. If you don't you won't know. Every body else has not seen it in person. It could be worth saving. I would at least try to buy it. If it was around here I would do all I could to by it. If you don't it is just going to rot even more. Plus if it is not worth fixing at least you have the parts. Don't forget that is were good parts come from. Not from some car that sombody wants to sell that can't and parts it out. That is Wrong. In all I say try to buy it at least. Don't forget IT IS A PORSCHE 911.

Sure it's way beyond making economic sense to bring back, but I'm with the folks that say at least try to buy it-even if you're only able to salvage a few lesser parts, it'b be a great learning experience to wrench on. If you don't, it'll wind up a coulda, shoulda, woulda...

I think we are missing a vital piece of information here. How much (or better put, "how little) can you buy it for.
At the right price, you'll have plenty of options, including salvaging the worthwhile parts so other cars may live or, perhaps, and depending upon RUST, putting it back on the road. For this example, the cost of entry is crucial. I'd think that anything over $1000 would probably be too much, but then I've only owned my car and been learning from the gurus here for 3 years, so I may be off base. $500 would be about right, $350 better yet. At that point, I'm seeing enough parts that could easily recoup your cash if you find it is too rotted out to save. The gurus will chime in. Grady loves to see these old girls brought back to life, so you may have some "encouragement" from him, particularly if the floor pans, rockers, etc are still relatively solid. Good luck! Let us know how it turns out!

Honestly, it does not look that bad. If you have the time, place and skill that looks to be a good restoration project. I bought my 68 shell for $300 and it needed everything done. I like assuming everything needs to be done rather than feel fooled later on. I would try and get it for what you know you can sell some of the parts for.

If you got the balls, this is a hell of a beginning to a great thread/story!
My fir st recommendation when you drag it out is check for critters EVERYWHERE!!! Maybe leave it outside for a day or two while you clear it out... My vote? You can do it!!!! |

If it's just sitting like that rotting - just go take it. It's abandoned.
I'd take it if I had a trailer. I bet we could find it, winch it and leave in under 30 minutes.

If the price is right, then the car is alright!

I can show you pictures of 356s, in the back of a property, if you came upon them from the rear of the property, they would appear to be "abandoned." But they aren't and I have tried for close to 20 years to get them, but the owner (who knows what they are & value) won't sell.. ![]()

Yeah - if they "know" what they are "valued" then they wouldn't be rusting to ***** in a field.
I'd take 'em.
