Need A/C for 1976 911 in Texas

Hell has come to Texas. Need air conditioner and someone to install it in the Fort Worth/Dallas area. What to do, where to go?

I am in Ft. worth. Try Zims in Bedford Zim's Autotechnik They sell Texas rated AC parts.

Fellow pelicans, glad to hear from other ftw, texans. I've used Zims and Mayo performance. You can contact Rock at retro air. I am currently working to replace my AC (1987 911 cab, black/black). Let me know if you need any further info. Hope this helps. Terry, hangar21@me.com. I'm in Keller.

"what to do"......buy a good Honda, Toyota, Nissan, whatever, it's your choice. "where to go"....your favorite Honda, Toyota, etc. dealership in the DFW area. I've lived in Texas my entire 60+ years, owned Porsches and a little bit of everything else....you will spend a wheel barrow full of $$$ to get a decent AC in an air cooled Porsche and the Texas heat (especially in the stop/go traffic in the metromess) will kick your ass every time. My unsolicited .02 cents worth.

Agree,,, During the months of June, July and August in particular, my '74 sits in the garage except for an early morning run on weekends to keep the battery charged. The F150 supercrew has a kicka$$ AC and is much more practical during those months...

as to hell coming to Texas, I think it was Gen. Sherman who stated something to the effect that given the choice between TX and hell, he would pick hell...

I have an almost complete ac system removed from a 1976 911s if you are interested in an original system. The system was working (so I am told) when the PO removed it. It is complete down to the hoses and the clips and hardware that hold them in place, all that is missing is the decklid mounted condenser. It is a Behr system with the under dash batwing vent.

My '72 911 has better AC than my 2008 Prius. Yes I have a 993 condenser in the drivers side front fender. Had to lose the battery box. I use R12 and even when it is 105 out the highest setting on my AC is too much. The prius can never cool off if it has been parked in the sun.

Individual components from Vintage Air here in SA may be an alternative to the "P" price.

How about showing us how you mounted that 993 condensor!
