Car detailing products

Hi there @ all,

I was wondering what kind of experiences you've made with car detailing products?

Which products of which manufacturers would you recommend to use on my new 1.5 year old Porsche?

Thanks a lot!

Dutchfly

Dodo Juice ! English made, excellent product line, high quality long lasting results.
I use their Banana Armour wax and their Tropical Mist quick detailer, nothing short of spectacular
on Guards Red.

the product list will be better compiled by other 997 owners.... or check out http://www.autopia.org/ for more reading than you will ever need on the subject.

Your car is 1.5 years old. Any modern wax/cleaner will work just fine.

My car is over 25 years old. I use 3M, Meguiars, or Mothers products, and all have worked really well.

Go to Autopia.org and Autogeek. Read up on the Autopia forums then purchase at Autogeek. A lot depends what your goals are. The state of the art is always changing. It's actually gotten to the point that some paint care products are so good and last so long that if you enjoy periodically waxing (or sealing) your car you purposely don't use them.

Especially read up on Opticoat 2.0

The Wolfgang paint sealant is amazing stuff. The first time I used it on my Diamond Blue paint, I looked down and saw a screwdriver on the floor next to my car--as I reached for it I realized I was looking at the reflection of the damn thing in the bottom of my door.

I think asking us what our preferred cleaning products for our cars is, is like asking a bunch of Kindergardeners what is the best candy... Lol

I am a Griots guy, and Liquid glass glaze is my favorite paint protection for my P-cars.

Or what oil to use... we all know how that turns out.

But that said, I'll weigh in: Victory Wax on the Porsches, Meguiars NeXT wax for drivers. I like a lot of Griot's products, but not their wax.

Hey guys,

Thanks for the feedback so far!

My one-and-a-half-year old is a black on black 997 4S Cab.

What do you use on the convertible top for cleaning and waterproofing?

For leather care I've used LEXOL so far. Do you have any other recommendations here?

Greetz,

I use the Swiss wax products or as they are know in Germany "SWIZÖL".
When I had a cabrio I used the Vinyl Clean for the window and the roof I impregnated with their Scotchguard spray. To be honest their whole range is excellent. Where in Germany are you?

I second going to Autopia.org and Autogeek.net.

There are so many products for so many applications and everyone has their favorites. They are fun to experiment with. You can buy wax from $3.99 at Wal-mart to $1500 for a small pot of pure carnuba. They will both make your car shinney. Experiment and see what type of finish you like on the car.

If you want great results - buy a D/A buffer - clay bar - a glaze (I like Pinnacle XMT) - and a good wax and go to town. You will be amazed at the results - especially on black. It will probably take you 4-5 hours or more to do a 997 right the first time. The results will be worth it though.
