Does this VIN match this engine #?

I recently bought a '77 911s with the following VIN and Engine#:

VIN# 9117203286
Engine# 6275864

I wonder if the engine is the original engine came with this chassis? Thanks

The engine # range for 1977 911S in the US is 627001-6276041, so your number is in the right ballpark for a '77 coupe. If you contact Porsche NA and order your Kardex, it will tell you exactly which engine and tranny shipped with the car.

Do you mean a Certificate of Authenticity? That is what I have, but it is not called the Kardex.

What are ther differences if any?
