Thanks to all of you well-wishers. I wasn't going to post again knowing I'll just be ridiculed, but I am because some of u are interested in this saga I'm experiencing with finding a suitable(for me!) 911.

As far as the car goes, I withdrew my request for the ppi after the owner divulged some 4th quarter issues, specifically being that the car has been sitting for 6 years, had rear end impact damage thqt was never properly corrected ("too difficult"). The car also had interior renovations which irritated me being that it is not original. Car smokes decently on startup and acceleration. Owner is a nice guy and very straightforward thank goodness. The bottom line guys is that I want a low mile, fully original, unmolested car in excellent condition, in all ways (read not mint). As u are fatigued seeing my saga continue as it has, so am I. Therefore, I vow not to post again (really) until I have a car in my possession.

I won't be posting again, like I said, so I won't respond to anything posted. Thanks again for all the encouragement and interest from you kinder guys. All the best,

Kurt

Geez you couldn't see this one coming. Wish i did this well with my football picks last year.

For those of you perusing the forums LOOKING for a classic pre-90 air cooled Porsche please note- In the USA there are THOUSANDS of great cars- If your budget is over $20K TAKE YOUR PICK of sub 100K cars in wonderful shape- service histories, glossy paint, motors with good compression and low leakdown numbers. Even if your taste is very particular- say a Black SC with a whaletail- Got $28K?? I'll find you a good car TODAY- no charge. You'll be driving tomorrow. I promise.

If your budget is $15-$18K you have HUNDREDS of good cars on the market at any moment- SC's in a variety of colors, most with recent service work and enthusiast owners.

If you got $10K- roll the dice but most seem to find a good 74-77 project car that's a decent driver.

No sad stories here- It's the golden age of 911s before ALL the 80s cars begin to be too expensive.

Meh.

Don't worry about the nay-sayers. Internet courage is dirt-cheap. And don't worry about the cries of "off-topic". The same cries are conspicuously absent from other threads that contain little to no technical discussion. The commentary of the naysayers doesn't really say anything about you anyway. Think about it.

^^^^^ Look at the very non-factory front speakers, clearly this is a molested car and must be avoided.

While these threads may not be off-topic, they certainly aren't technical and should be asked in the forum specifically for such inquiries -- Marketplace.

Nice find. Full garage......miles are kind of high though don't you think? Lmao
Car could have 10 miles and the excuse would be that it had too little miles and seals were dried up!

what makes me chuckle is not Pleco but the opinions as to value out there. so many qualifiers needing definition, or which have definitions of their own.

there is a reason why some 1985 vintage 911s (example) are offered at $10,000-$15,000 and others between $25,000+, but they're most definitely NOT all of the same quality, and if they were, there wouldn't be a real difference in price. i just purchased a low mileage 1987 Carrera , and spent a good amount on it, but it was a price that i was willing to pay, and given the quality of the car (and opinions of trusted professionals in the sport), it seemed like a fair price to pay. i'm content, does much else matter?

as for Mr. Pleco, why not help him make up his own mind at this point?

see ya,

The car in Colorado seems to be a good one BUT it is a 3.2 not a 3.0 :=). Plenty of guys in Denver/Boulder to do a PPI or a walk around !!

For those wondering about the how and why's of this .. use the search button and punch in the OP on this thread and you will see why we are suspect on the postings ... they all ring fairly similar and something always happens .. I don't think one has made it to the PPI portion of the story ....

If he is looking and is just that particular .. he need to start attending concour shows and talk to the winning cars owners about selling ... others have posted great leads for him and its the same story ....

And so continues the days .........

Damn, that thing is clean! Pleco should thank you. Nice find. priced high, but if it has been maintained well, worth the price for particular and discriminating buyers. But I suspect he would find something wrong with it. not enough miles.
