Fuel return line install suggestions
I'm anticipating an engine install in the near future which requires a return line to a late fuel tank. Any updated suggestions? Factory or?
Thanks, Sherwood ('69 911) |

Fuel return line......
The fuel return for SC' and Carrera's are made of three (3) sections but since you are making your own, a one-piece length would do. The critical portion is finding the correct metric fittings (fuel tank side and delivery line engine side). Use fuel injection line spec only. Or contact Len C. (Boxster GT) to make one for you. Are you relocating the FP?

![]() I have made these tunnel lines up........ ![]() ![]() from the same 3011 Polyamid tube used by Porsche. The difference is my tunnel lines have threaded fittings at each end, and allow use of replacement hoses front or rear, making it much easier to repair or fit a front fuel pump with a custom hose. So far, I am only able to buy M16 fittings for this 10mm Polyamid tube. It is the appropriate size for this tube, and correct for a 3.6 upgrade when Porsche used M16 throughout. However, for the earlier models Porsche used a 10mm tunnel line with a custom 14mm fitting, and on the 3.2 & smaller motor used a combination of M14 & M16 fittings. I would be happy to supply any combination of lines & crimped hoses you may need, or sell you just fittings if they will help. Len at autosportengineering dot com Please, no PMs. Its almost always full and I cannot send photos via PM. Len

![]() Forgot to say you can also run SS tubes thru the tunnel and flare the ends with Metric flare fittings I can provide. You did not say what year you have, but up to 73 models Porsche used steel tubes that can rust over time. In 74 they went to white nylon tubes that turn brown and that crack & fail over time. Some time in the late 70s or early 80s Porsche went to the black Polyamid tube which seems to be bulletproof. I have never heard of any actual failure of the tube itself, only the rubber hoses that were crimped to the tubes. Thats when I decided to make new ones with threaded fittings. Len

I installed both factory lines in the tunnel. I will replace them again in 25 years when I am 80....yeah right.
