Thanks. But I can't take credit for it--found out about it on a thread over on Reenlist. My bulbs to the tach were dead anyway, so I thought I might as well re-do all 5 gauges. Just did the white lights, not the colored warning ones (as they're not on as much).

The warm white is what's closest to OEM, though some apparently prefer the brighter natural and cool white options. My 964 took 11 white bulbs. You have to bend the tabs a little to get them to work. Minor PITA, but not as bad as getting the stubborn instruments out of the dash without marring anything. Just bend the two tabs "downwards" towards the base and twisted a little (like airplane propellers) to ensure good contact. And because we're all a bit cheap, total cost was about $22, which is what two Porsche-branded regular bulbs cost.

Took the opportunity to have the fan shroud reconditioned while I wait for other parts to arrive for my mini restoration project.
Big thanks to Tru6 Restoration & Design... can’t wait to see the results!!!

I got a lot done to my '84 Targa this week!

Wevo Shift Coupler
New Continental Extreme Contact Sport tires
MOMO Prototipo steering wheel
M&K Cat Bypass/Sport Muffler, new o2 sensor

Next Week's projects:

Send DME off to have SW install his chip ('84 DME needs soldering and I'd rather not do that myself)

Get new driver's side rocker painted and installed (jack creases)

Adjust trunk latch (hard to close)

Next on the list:

Get with upholstery guy and decide what to do about driver's seat cushion and cracked piping. The leather is great and I don't want to lose the patina, but if he thinks new leather would be best, then that will be the plan.

Install Focal door speakers and Infinity's on rear shelf. See if replacing head unit with the Continental I've got is something I'm comfortable tackling myself.

Install fire extinguisher.

Diagnose leaking windshield washer fluid.

Stuff I've done so far:

Installed headlight relay kit and hotter bulbs in the H1's, new mounting screws.

Repaired cracked door pockets.

Had nose resprayed, front latch panel repaired, touched up all chips, buffed and detailed exterior.

Replaced front smile and engine deck seal.

Replaced rear license plate bracket & frame.

Replaced plastic seatbelt anchor trim.

Put in new Coco mats.

Did a bunch of chassis and suspension clean up and disassembly. Rebuilt some Boxster calipers with high temp seals from Racing Brake. I was planning on painting them, but they cleaned up pretty good so I'm sticking with the factory grey finish. Some more clean up then it's time to install this pile of parts.

Ordered some tires. Now this is how you pack a box for shipment! Very impressed with the effort the guys from Sunset Porsche put into this.
