Car is an '88 911 Carrera. Replaced my tired hydraulic hood struts with the Rennline billet mechanical offerings. The Rennline struts are all billet aluminum and work on the same principle as a ball point pen mechanism. There is no spring assist so the hood feels heavier but certainly not objectionable. The quality and appearance is all excellent, typical of Rennline products. I really like the positive retention of the "hood" when fully open. I highly recommend these struts.

I really love these. In the first 8 years of ownership I replaced my hood and trunk struts several times and they never lasted very long. Two years ago I purchased the Rennline Mechanicals for front and rear. I have a heavier than usual tail on my old turbo and it used to slam shut if the wind was blowing at a car show, no more problems.

Hollerans?

I've heard great things about his work.

A bit of a logistical pain, but... Dry ice blast the undercarriage while the powertrain is out?

Looking forward to hearing how it all goes back together and performs.

Already back together, so no Dry Ice Will just have to manually do some cleaning I think...

yes, Holleran's Performance in Auburn, CA. quality work... Air Cooled Porsche specialist - been rebuilding 915 transmissions since he was like 12 years old definitely recommend if you are in the area. Depending on the job, can take a little bit of time to get in - but not bad. Took me ~2 weeks to get an appointment, 2 weeks for the rebuild - including several unforeseen extra jobs (new clutch, shift-rod repair...)

Shifting much better I can even get into 1st now while still rolling, which was impossible before.

Modified a lighted headlight switch off a 944/964 to look look like my original non-lighted headlight switch.

Enlarged the hole in the dashboard, had to design and printed an adapter,...
now it looks like this:

and yes I can dim my instrument lights (the ugly EGR-light therefore hat to go)

...Finally got the stance where I want it (man that is trial and error) and took it out to pick up some Home Depot stuff for the final push of our move from TX to Missouri.

Need an alignment obviously but overall it tracked pretty good.

Now to put it all back together and maybe...just maybe wash it. Kind of like the Mad Max look to be honest.

Great stuff! As I am removing most "extra" lights, and electronics I do really appreciate the creativity you, and others, have.

Nicely done.

Hi, First post here. My recent project was replacing my alternator this week due to high voltage. I just took my '89 3.2 on a 2400 mile road trip and that was the worst of it so I can't complain. I've been too busy restoring the car from a DIY engine rebuild on up to get into the forums but here I am now.

Went on a flawless 40 mile jaunt on some backroads on this perfect 70 degree fall day, was returning with the urge to wax poetic about how perfect the car is running, handling, braking and how I feel like I am putting on an old glove when I fall into the GTS Classics when a leaf lodges itself in the wipers. I go to turn them on and nothing. They don’t budge. I smack the switch lightly a few times and no go. Such is old car life.

Can you list your wheel/tire size and measure your fender heights? About to get my @911ratrod out of body work and need to re-assemble it. Loved how low it was before, but want it like yours now.
