I pulled off the door pannel to try and remove a door ding that has been bothering me for 8 years. got in there to find out why i hadnt done it before. the support bar was directly in the way. So i carefully drilled a big hole in it and worked out the dent with a paint can opener. it came out so good i went around and worked out 2 dents on my other cars. I had the window regulator spring thingey floating around in there so i checked and it looked like it was working so they must have replaced it in the past. In the process my crappy aftermarket window switch fell apart and i couldnt get it back together and working properly so i put the original one back in i lubed it up and it seems to be working fine. So it was a hastle but got it all back together and no more door ding

Prepped my 89 Targa for the run to Monterey next week. Oil change with Kendall gt1 and valve adjust with the 'backside' method. I'll be using that technique from now on.
Cheers,
Jess

Changed the stereo fuse to the Blaupunkt (original '88 911 Carrera 930 issue) which I never listen to, for the first time. It's also the first time I changed any of its fuses. While removing the fuse, I crushed it to pieces. I gingerly put in the new one. There must be a better way of removing the fuse(s).

^^^ Next time try removing a fuse with your fingers instead of vice grips or a pipe wrench!

Elephant Racing Oil Cooler

Finished installing the Elephant Racing late Carrera oil cooler system. Added 14 1/2 quarts of oil over a period that included the special thermostat opening to accept the additional oil through the cooler.

No leaks and seems to activate at about 200F. Haven't run it on the Interstate yet to see what sort of temperature drop I get once the thermostat opens but maybe tomorrow.

I did this without installing the fan and its thermostat that mounts in front of the cooler as I would have to cut out the passenger side battery box. Seems that I get pretty good flow through the passenger side horn grill.

Last weekend was both new CV axles and yesterday was just some little quick and clean stuff. Oil Change, New wipers, New turn signal relay, two new hood struts....just a nice easy hour or so tinkering by myself in the garage.

Yesterday took the SC to the office to catch up on some work. Decided to drop the Honda off at the dealer for a recall fix so I had my wife drive it down and meet me. We then loaded into the SC to do lunch and stop by my new office to see how work is progressing. Myself, wifey, and our 2 kids in the SC makes for a loaded vehicle.

Later, my daughter and I took it uptown to a car show to promote Flint's "Back to the Bricks" event next weekend. I have some pics of muscle cars and hot rods I am going to upload later today.

This morning we went for donuts(again) and then are off to a family reunion. I'll probably drive the SC and have wifey drive the Honda packed with kids and toys. It's sort of a "thing" for those that have cool cars drive them to the annual reunion.

I got the engine cover release latch on my '87 3.2 to work properly! The engine cover (with the optional rear spoiler) now "pops up" properly when the release is pulled.

It just took complete dis-assembly, a good cleaning, reassembly, and very patient alignment.

For the first time since I got the car 7 years ago, I no longer have to hold the release handle while opening the engine lid.

Drove it for the first time since I got a stent implant 2 weeks ago. Better than cardiac rehab!

Took her for about a 20 mile ride through the town and on the Interstate up 75mph, all to test the Elephant Racing fender mounted oil cooler. Ran fine; ambient temp about 87F and oil temp never above 195F, mostly around 190F on open road.

Before putting her back in storage unit, felt the pipes under the rocker panel forward of the thermostat. Feed line was very hot, return was just like it was supposed to be: less hot. Oil level right on "MAX" on the dip stick. No leaks. Pleased.

Front Brake Pad Replacement

Everything seemed to go pretty good for a first time. Noticed a dust seal that looked a little chewed up. Hopefully it'll last a while.

Last year for my birthday (Sept) my son bought me a new Rennline pedal set. I quickly got the throttle, brake, and clutch pedals in, but not the dead pedal. I also had left off the carpet piece and some other trim pieces in the meantime. Today, with my son's help, we got the dead pedal fitted and installed. We had to drill holes in the fender for this, so needed to be extra careful.

Got it all back together and all the trim back in place. The best thing about this upgrade is that the only place my carpet has any stain on it is now under the dead pedal . It looks a crooked in this picture, but it's not.

The old head unit was dated. It didn't have bluetooth and I hated the way it worked. When I upgraded my 87 535is's head unit earlier this year, I was able to get his old one replaced with a brand new unit under warranty. We also swapped that in today.
