Tracked down and fixed an annoying oil leak on the 72E. It appeared oil was seeping down the driver's side crankcase, and winding up on the bottoms of the cylinders. Took the air box off to see if something was amiss in the "triangle of death", and saw a puddle of oil in the MFI pump mount. It seems oil was leaking from the MFI pump oil line. Quick replacement, back together and off for a spirited flogging. Got back, no more burning oil smoke, no more drips on cylinders. Today, I won. Next time? meh

I think the concept for Whack-a-Mole may have come from a 911 owner chasing leaks.

Had my A/C evacuated of old R-12 and filled with fresh, virgin R-12.

New pads and discs all around! Thanks Pelicans for the two-hammer trick to remove the front axle's grease cap...

Sent from my TRS-80 Model III.

Was getting way to much play up down side to side.
Thought my steering wheel bushing was toast even though I'd replaced 10-15 years ago. Just happened to be a loose nut. Put lock tight on this time.

Washed it. Then went to take a drive later and would not start. Thought maybe something got wet, so I waited a few hours and tried again. Cranked but no start. Swapped out my DME relay, and no luck. Tried to crank for 30 seconds and got a big BOOM as a result. Looks like I'll be getting it towed to my service place on Monday... Bummed because I am going to my first auto cross event tomorrow. Guess I am taking my daily driver -- a Saab 93.

Balanced the ITBs and retuned idle to a comfortable 800 rpm.

Installed Kuehl barrier hoses over the course of the weekend.

Took me about 9 hours all-in (prep, work, distractions, beer runs, recharge, cleanup). It was a NASTY job. The old lady came out while I was working and took a picture. She told me I looked like I had been working in a coal mine.

Pulled a vacuum for about an hour while I was cleaning up, then left it for an hour to see if there were any leaks. It was still holding vacuum, so I put in 43 oz of r-134a, reaching pressures of 45 low-side / 250 hi-side.

While I had it up on jack stands, I swapped out the driver's side valve cover gaskets, which had been weeping.

So she is ready to go for the summer.
