I remember a thread last year where a guy traveling cross country had the same problem as you. His solution was to buy a spare battery, have his old and new battery fully charged, and drive home during the day with all accessories turned off. He made it from Michigan to the east coast this way. A lot easier to work on and diagnose the situation at home.
