Sorry for the Ot. I'll make it quick. My wifes '95 Rangie grenaded her P/S pump. dealership wanted $500+ for the pump and $? labor. I went down and picked up a used one for $175 and put it in in about 1-1/2 hours or so. Here is the dilema, I was in a bit of a haze thinking about other things and I topped the old girl off with prestone P/S fluid. I didn't think of it till now but dont most Euro vehicles use ATF in the P/S system? What have I done?

Drain the PS fluid, refill with ATF, flush, and refill again. The PS pump does take ATF fluid. And post your question on the Land Rover bbs: http://catalog.roversnorth.com/wwwboard/w3bbrrframe.html
Maybe you'll get a more comprehensive answer. Boris 1987 911 Carrera 1995 Range Rover LWB |

Things get more complex because depending on what year Rangie you have, it can take either PS fluid or ATF. According to my owners manual, my 1995 Range Rover requires ATF. I assume yours does as well.

...I am a transplant from the roversnorth bbs (Discovery, '63 IIA 88)and man what a difference a manufacturer makes. Without question, every day there was some petty shouting match or argument, beration, slanderous comments and so forth. It literally became unbearable to go to the bbs and certainly you would never expect any tech advice (lendaddy got lucky). I assume that RR drivers have the same level of sophistication as p-car drivers so how is this board able to moderate itself with no/limited interference from host?
