WOW, the Drowning Pool parrot is way too cool - ha!
Funny story about your daughter, too! So you actually found someone to breed with - poor woman! |

I've never ridden in Targa with my head under the dash, but I would venture to say, as uncomfortable as it would be, the the acoustics are probably pretty good given the position of the speakers. Jus sayin...

Yes...no resonance to speak of, and the thunderous bass...ahhh, what? Hmmmm, I wouldn't know.
In Hawaii they have a saying..."a sea turtle looks like a 911 coupe, thus, Aaaeeeooooaaawaneei, ", which loosely translates to "and Targas suck". |

So...a sports car that reminds one of a turtle is a good thing? Seems a bit counterintuitive.

Can't explain Hawaii's logic...just report the hard cold facts. They have another saying, "Oooaiii waaaaiiiiooooeee eeeeeiiiieeeeiiiiiio akakakakaklololo iiiiiiieeeeeeoooooooo, aaaaooooiiiieeee uuuuuiiiooooeeeeellllllaaaakkkaaaiiiii ,oooooooo eeeee, iiii ooooo." which once again loosely translates to "chicken scratch my paint job."

I think the summary of this thread is that the Targa is to the sports car world what crotchless panties are to women's underwear. They can be a fun novelty every now and then but otherwise serve no practical purpose.
PS - I have been up to my armpits in alligators at work for a few days so I'm a little punchy right now. |

Jeez, only if Targa owners had a professional opinion about it's handling relative to the coupe.
I mean, they suck ass, right? Well, this little known, punk ass b****, named Mark Donahue says the Targa is superior in handling. 911T Targa and 911S coupe Targas freakin' rule. Perhaps the coupe wind-bags are mere wanna-be racers rather than folks that understanding true car control. I don't understand car control but the last thing I do is pon-farkin-tificate on stuff I know nothing about. Coupe owners, from my standpoint, have some scrambling to do - OK, you win on wind noise and rain leaks.

That's weird, I've never heard of the hydropneumatic suspension on an older 911. Learn something new every day. The Targa won out on temperament.
Like the old Honda ad, "You meet the nicest people in a Targa." |

Chicks dig it!! (forgive me ladies)
[QUOTE=matt gineo;8000439]I can't even begin to tell you how many gorgeous female laps my little botique doggie has sat on in my gay little Targa, topless of course!
My GLD(gay little dog, apologies to GLAAD) loves going fast in the Targa. So in the Targa or Coupe argument, I side with Mark Donahue about the Targa being an all around driving favorite. When the rural speed is done, the Targa top comes off for beach rides. IME Most non-Porsche people prefer being more cordial to people with a cute GLD in an open Targa. It is a social thing I guess. As an old Shriner once told me "he rode a bike that would impresses the ladies". He had some great stories to tell. Go racing in the non-sunroof coupe but get a Targa for dates or family pleasure. Can you go to a Bachelor party and get several strippers to stand up in your coupe and flash for a group photo? Takes a Targa doesn't it? Just asking & having fun. Just wait for the new Targa to hit the streets in force!!!

Mark at Road Atlanta
Mark has always been one of my favorite all time Porsche drivers. Mark did the aero flip in a car at the rather nasty downhill transition coming out from under the old bridge at the end of the back straight at Road Atlanta. The elevation decline was way too sharp when the cars & bikes got faster. A big drop after a very fast lazy curve back straight. Mark survived that flip in an open cockpit car with some good luck of helmet thickness & roll bar. Mark could have been a living American legend if not for his later untimely fatal crash in 75. Mark went faster with the old 70's equipment than most posters will ever know so Mark liking the Targa best is nothing but PURE GOLD.
