Homebrew octane

A while ago someone(I think maybe Jack) was asking about octane boosters. I just came across this site w/ some relevant info.

Although tempting, I don't like to fool around with boosted octane levels (i.e.95+) due to the fear I have of self-ignition (i.e. compression of the fuel to a point where it ignites BEFORE the sparkplug fires - i.e. backfire).

The thought of all 6 cylinders firing like a diesel doesn't appeal to me or my wallet......

I have no experience with boosters however so other guys please comment and correct my fears accordingly if possible!

Anyone had good luck with 'boosters'? I have used a Swepco gas improver, 503, which claims to allow fuel to burn more completely and therefore provide a 'boost'. It cleans injectors too. I noticed a diff in my gal's civic, but didn't do much for my 911SC.

errrr, higher octaners resist compressive detonation.... which is a good thing.

I run 104 in my car 9.8:1

I have used toluene and xylene as a stop gap measure, when I have run out of VP fuel.

toluene and xylene are cheaper than the same repackaged products. Mix them with marvel mystery oil and off you go

From the link posted, Formula 1, 10%...94.2 Octane from a base of 92 octane at the pump.

Pardon my ignorance but can you dump a gallon in for every 10 gallons of gas without premixing, or should it be mixed prior?
