Cowl Vent Seal.....PIC
After searching the forum for the correct part number and then ordering this from my local dealer based on the PET #901 571 325 32 I can see its not the correct part for the cowl seal vent screen.
Does anyone know of the correct part number to replace this piece? #24 on the below screen shot looks like the right part but it seems not to be the case. ![]() As you can see the original can not be saved at this point. Vent on the top/ seal on the bottom.

How about a photo of what you got for that part number?
You are nor the only one. Here are the Pelican Reviews (1 Star) for that part... Not the part shown in the diagram By David A., submitted December 21, 2013 Comments: Or, I can't read a diagram. Ended up fabricating a seal for the vent grill mesh to frame and to body out of other material. Have a "Front Vent Grille Seal" for sale.... Wrong part By sacoffee, submitted July 23, 2013 Comments: This is not correct part for vent grill seal. Should be a flat gasket like item, instead the part PP stocks is a rubber seal, circular, seamed piece. Designed as if it goes on the edges of a flanger. My car is an 88 911

Left it there... It looks like just cut fabric tape which I can buy it on McMaster I'd I knew what kind of tape to look for. Any ideas?

Yep. That's it.
I believe this is the seal for the internal duct mounting to the body cowl. I'm thinking The tape covering the body duct surface might be just a secondary material not included in the PET.

![]() The PET program for the SC model years do not call out any items like those for the grille or grill cover. Since It is not in the manual and I did not have it when I removed the grille I would surmise that it was an after factory add on by an owner. the other seal you received is the seal for the fresh air inlet box that mates to a flange on the underside of the cowling. This seal prevents water intrusion into the luggage compartment and there is also a drain line at the bottom of the fresh air inlet box to let any water that comes through the grill to be flushed out. Am I the only one who does not have these two pieces of rubber/fabric? It seems to me that if does exist then its only purpose is for appearance and or to prevent the paint from being scratched due to contact with the body. it certainly does not prevent any water intrusion into the inside of the trunk.

You need to get either black "Gaffer's" tape or fabric "friction" type electrical tape.
I have worked on many original low miles cars and seen this behind the front air inlet grill. It seems to me that Porsche uses this in certain applications where they want to 1)black out body color & 2)protect a painted surface from abrasion. This type of tape "seal" is also found on the rear tail light/center reflector of 911's at the gap between lights and reflector. Porsche also uses black gaff tape on the 993 to hold down the emergency engine lid release cable under LR tail light assembly. Cooper |
