Clutch fork movement effort?
Finally got to investigating my grabby clutch which is most pronounced in 1st and reverse. Only very careful release of the pedal avoids a clunky engagement.
The pedal cluster has been rebuilt and the clutch cable looks pretty new and has no excessive friction. With 57k original miles, I figured it might still have the original rubber-centered clutch plate notorious for deteriorating I split the engine/tranny this afternoon and it's a spring-center Sachs clutch, so it has been replaced and seems unlikely to be the cause. The clutch fork turns smoothly but with some effort - like rolling up a manual car window that hasn't been used in a while. Should the fork turn more freely?

You're North East Coast? I suspect it gets pretty wet there? Yes?
The Fork's shaft may have rusted and may be binding. Yes, it should move freely. Also was the TO Bearing dry, it should be lubed as well.
