The new cars don't have fake sound piped through speakers like bmw, but they do have "sound symposer" - the cabin is fairly quiet, but you can push a button and the engine sounds are amplified in the cabin through a noise tube.

My 09 Cayman S did not have this - it was a PDK car and had a very boring exhaust note - except when you stomped on it - I took it in for service and they gave me a 2014 Cayman base pdk loaner - it sounded great inside the cabin. Probably a great piece of engineering.

This is one reason why I sold the Cayman and got the 89 - sound is a big part of the experience for me.

I don't know about this.

The motorsport models won't have these new turbo engines.

That seems significant.

Good point on a number of issues.

The only problem with that is those cars will cost a gazillian dollars. And they will still be ruined with 200 pounds of PDK.

Absolutely right. I'm not surprised though. It seems everything on the road today is turbo charged. I remember when the word Turbo was used it meant one thing, Porsche 930.

Heck even my X3 has a twin scroll turbo. The only good thing about FI is that increasing HP is fairly easy and relatively inexpensive; just need a tune and increase the boost and maybe add an exhaust. Anything we do to substantially increase the HP in our SC's or 993's is very expensive and involves headers, cams or re-gearing.

I wonder how they plan to market and name what's currently the 911 Turbo; or will it just disappear from the lineup?
