87 targa window swithes

Ok, have had several problems with my window swithes before but today they were really acting up. So I removed them , opened the Bently manual, and followed the wiring sequence to the swith numbers, now nothing. Checked fuse , and replaced. I ordered three new swithes today from Pelican. Any good advice? Thanks Lenny.

Sorry about your lisp..... LOL!!! I kid I kid!!!
Have you started by checking to see if you actually have power making it to the switch in the first place? Power and ground....the rest should follow. Wires that run through the drivers door see the most stress and fatigue.

Could have been the power window relay acting up. Switches you can check with a ohm meter to make sure they are switching. A relay is a little more difficult because you have to power the coil to make sure the contacts are switching.

Power, yes I blew all my blue fuses , need to get more. Very frustrating, following the wiring in the Bently to the T. Maybe not accurate?

Hmmm.... The Bentley has been pretty accurate for me....BUT the work on the wiring the previous owner did at some point is a bigger concern.

The power window relay doesn't look like anything to wizzy to me. But I seem to think from Porsche they are about $100.00.

Where is the relay located? Being the swithes are less expensive, I will try that first but next the relay , I guess.

Your first problem might be the Bentley wiring diagram. Not all cars have the same color wires. Take the two middle wires 1and 2 marked on the switch and hook them directly to a 12 volt battery window should operate reverse polarity for up and down. If that works correct your switch wiring and then move to the relay.

The switch photos were awesome, and yes using a charge box I was able to operate the windows. I guess I can assume the motors and regulators are good. So relay And switches must be the culprits? Great info!

Not any help, but on Friday, I took my '89 carrera out for it's first run of '15, to the school to pick the wee fella up.lowered the windows and opened the sun roof....then went to raise passenger window, nothing.Blast I thought..swap the switch over when I get home
.one of the other fathers said have you tried the passenger switch.ouch...I had not. Up the window went...back to the driver side switch and down it came, up it went several times...I don't know what made it work , but it does now...at least I do not have to strip the door !
