Are my questions to hard?

I have placed 2 post on this board (71 targa questions) with no replies. Is it that no one is smart enough to answer the questions or is it that If you don't go to every porsche show around an aleady know all the guys your question does not rate getting a reply. Just wondering.

I did a search on your user name and you had two posts with several responses. I don't have a clue on what to tell you about the size tire to put on that model year. It looks like you will be pioneering new ground here. Good luck with what ever you decide and hopefully you will be able to help someone else in the future with this type of question.

Perhaps too obscure. Most people with carbs sht-can the Zenith carbs and go with Webers.

Also, a laundry list of questions doesn't go over too well.

Your post on the carbs was kind of esoteric. I've had a couple of posts that didn't get much response. I think it's a matter of timing. If the users with knowledge on your issue don't happen to be browsing within a couple of hours of your post, it can get buried a few pages down, and they never see it, because lots of people don't drill down all the way to the last post they read when they get back on. Even if you bump it, it can get buried again.

Perhaps you would get a better response if you made them multiple choice.

You're on the right track
There's a better way to do it
Install a Cool Collar
Give up and buy a Cayenne
What was the question again?

WHEN THEY DON'T ANSWER MY QUESTIONS, I SWITCH ON THE CAPS LOCK AND KEEP SCREAMING TILL THEY RESPOND!

I'm kidding. But if you get no answers, try to bump your question to the top around 10AM EST to give the West Coasters a shot at it. If that fails, then the question may be too obscure or difficult to answer.

No, there are no real clich's here, just guys who know each other electronically, and a few who have met in person. So, you just as much an "insider" as anyone. It's timing and how you phrase the question.

Well, now that you put it that way, I'll get cracking on trying to find answers to your questions.

Just wait by your computer, should be coming up soon . . .

Thank you all for the helpful advice. Just because a person does not have a lot to post does not mean that he is not a fan of the board. Its just very disappointing not to get get any answers to your posts when its obvious that everyone has an opinion.

If you get buried. Go back in and post a reply to your own post. Just write "bump" in the reply. Or re-phrase the question.

Good Luck ............

So Imageben, you're saying that because you're a lurking " fan of the board" you are entitled to quality responses?
That's not how it works.
Yes, there is an element of loyalty to helpful posters here. Poster which add value to the board do generate more responses to their questions.
However, even a well stated, well thought out, first question can add value; and generate quality responses.

Newbies need to understand there is no, (zero, zip, none, nadda) reason for anyone to respond.
Lucky for you though, Jim T will be right back.

Well it looks like this post has gotten some replys, and some pretty funny ones to boot. Honestly, I have not had the pleasure of getting together in the real world with anyone on this board but I feel very comfortabe posting on it. I do get a great amount of enjoyment in the posts I read and the Knowledge found here is top notch. Best of all is the whit and sarcasm, everone should enjoy a good chuckle every now and then. P.S. can't you tell by my Sh@T eating Grin.

Imageben,

I am a foreigner, live miles away, write bad English and get answers to most posts (repeat #most# posts). So I can guarantee that no insider knowledge is required to get advice by this board.

We may have an opinion or not, but your questions were very technical and you looked for answers, not opinions.

My €0.02

PS. Since we are here... Are you sure that nobody knows where are the sensors for the seat belt light? Nobody answered my last post...

"Are my questions to hard?" should read "Are my questions too hard?"

No charge for that one.

I am good friends with two pelicaners in real life, have met half a dozen more in person, and maintain pen-pal relationships with half a dozen more.

We all agreed months ago, in fact, to conspire against you. Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean we're NOT out to get you.

Paco:

My take was that your question was *where* in the seat do the sensors live. They've got to be pretty darn close to the buttocks I am thinking.

Image:

I also was curious to wade through your past posts. What they seem to share is a shotgun of a question with few specifics. These are tough to answer. Typically folks will use the Search facility, or dig up documentation such that they can approach this 'board with a more refined question - too broad and nobody will attempt a reply.

But don't let these answers from the rowdy bunch that make up this 'board dissuade you. I sense that you don't have a lot of help with your car in Boston and that you are really on your own. You could hook up with the PCA or equiv. and get a bit of hand-holding. Certainly those dreaded Zeniths are going to make folks back away like you have West Nile.

In all events a bit of patience and study will reap rewards. I think a '71 Targa is a helluva car to work with and so you do have a very nice platform with which to start. Just don't start with the rust questions!

John
