I used the expandable tubing on my wiring as well. Though to terminate the ends I used shrink tube and the end result looks really nice without having to use tape.

That looks great. I will be using heat shrink on the ends. I am just using the tape on the splices, where heat shrink doesn't do as well

Jeff - I had a dumb question about this episode - when installing your alternator, there does not appear to the diverter vanes on the back of the alternator for air flow. Maybe this is something later engines don't have (I think yours is a later engine) than my early 2.0 - but I thought I'd mention it in case it was originally missing or something. Called a hub extension 911-106-033. Maybe I just didn't see it when you were mounting the alternator.

Cheers!

Not dumb at all. A mate noticed the same thing and the dodgy engine that I got with this car didn't have it, but it does need it and I have ordered one. As it never had it I didn't even know I was missing it.

Back into the wiring on the 911 engine and this time I tackle the connectors.

This week I finally fit the fan belt and finish most of the wiring on the engine.

Many of you have seen a lot of my garage in my videos, but in this video I give you a full tour, and you may even get some hints about upcoming videos.

That's a shop

Jeff,
Thanks for the tour. Now that looks like a good, usable work space....that actually gets used on a regular basis.....

regards,
al

Thanks Al. It keeps evolving, as I gradually work out what works for me.

This week I was back working on the 911, but I lost all of the actual footage of the day. So here is a summary.

Jeff, you may already know this, but there are programs that can recover files from a corrupted or damaged card. I work in photo/video and they've saved my ass a time or two. I believe the one I have is called "cardrescue." Hope that helps and keep up the great work!

Thanks. That is something I will keep in mind for the future, although I really hope I don't need it

Back to work on Harry this week and I run the car side of the loom and mount the ECU.

I was going to go the same direction as you with air cleaner "windows" but i,m running Webers and was worried about the carbs backfiring. The only solution I could come up with was to possibly use toughened glass .
In the end i just machined the middle strips out of my K&N cover and added plastic PORSCHE
lettering from Ali Express !

Plastic (Lexan whatever) shouldn't be a problem.

Porsche used plastic air boxes, early cars had metal.

I am not too concerned with my ITB's back firing (or pre-firing to be more precise), and at worst if the perspex I have used proves to be a issue, it is simple enough to replace them with something else.

This week I finish up the engine bay portion of the wiring and set up the dead head fuel system on Harry.
