oh yes...it was a kit...still produced I think...that's one of nicest I've seen...I hear it was a tough kit...

Most of them are built on a VW chassis...and the new owners/builders forget to lighten up on the suspensions.
The effect is like riding in an empty dump truck with solid springs! Usually the owner is dissapointed with the end result and ends up selling it. The cars can be very nice...but most kits end up making the rounds of owners. And yes...very difficult kit to assemble...in relation to other kits out there. Bob

While that 917 MAY have come from the factory like that. I can say with certainty that it didn't come from the Porsche factory. BTW - I wonder if someone forgot their 6-pack of Schlitz cans on the rear deck, because I doubt if the feature highlighted has any mechanical function.
