Thanks everyone.
For me sandpaper was not enough, but a slight bent to the low beam contact was enoughnto make it work well again. Low beams are staying on! Thanks again

My 1978SC had this feature. Turns out there are two ways the low beam can be wired. On my car I was able to find a yellow wire dangling loose near the light switch and connect this to the yellow wire that is on #56 on the light switch (having removed it from the light switch). Low beam will then go out when main (high) beam is selected.
