Weird Engine Bay Noise before Starting
I'm a newish (18 month) owner of my first 911. Its a UK delivered 85' Carrera Targa
![]() Issue in question is a strange noise that occurs prior to turning the engine over but when the key is in the "on" position. In the engine bay sounds like an old computer hard disk turning over, its hard to describe so i have a video (below). At the same time this occurred i noticed another sound in the cabin that sounds like a fan that was squealing at first but now seems just like a normal fan (not the cabin ventilation fans - i can turn them on and off ok). I can start the car fine and it run as per normal. This one has really got me puzzled ![]() This came on suddenly after a long-ish (3 hour) 'spirited' drive where where i had run the fuel level down quite low before refueling. Its now on a full. Got a long trip this weekend and i was wondering if i should be worried or not. I could be the fuel pump struggling but it doesn't make sense with the noise in the engine bay.
