Replacing old style transmission mount?
How to replace 901 transmission mounts?
Hi I have a 1969 912 with a 1970 911/01 transmission. My trans is being rebuilt and I would like to replace the transmission mounts with new. According to the pelican article: Porsche 911 Motor and Transmission Mount Replacement | 911 (1965-89) - 930 Turbo (1975-89) | Pelican Parts DIY Maintenance Article “The transmission mounts are very similar to the motor mounts, except for the early cars. Unfortunately, the early cars have a once piece mount and support bar design that is no longer available. “ “The later style 911s (1972-on) were equipped with a transmission mount bar that incorporated replaceable mounts." Whats the fix? How can I get new mounts in a 69 with the one piece bracket? Can I press new rubber mounts in the old bar? A >=1972 mounting bracket with removable mounts was for a 915 trans right? Can that work or will it need special shimming? I know this must have a simple answer? Thanks ahead of time. |

Bituva thread bump. Any of you folks care to comment on the efficacy of the above alternative solution to the OP's question. I am facing a similar situation.
Cheers JB

Bumping an old thread.
The mounts referred to in the "how to" are no longer available from Pelican. Does anyone know another version or option for these mounts? https://www.pelicanparts.com/cgi-bin/smart/more_info.cgi?pn=PEL-RSRMTM&catalog_description=Poly-Graphite%20Engine/Transmission%20Mount%20Insert%20Kit,%20911%20(1965-89),%20911%20Turbo%20(1976-89),%20or%20Transmission%20Mount%20for%20911%20(19 72-89)%20915%20or%20G50 |

Re-bumping old thread since im not seeing much solution here. Are the Rennline mounts the only replacement mounts available for the old style mount? My transmission shift rod is not centered in the hole through the tunnel leading me to believe my mounts are sagging?

Best solution is to send the mount to WEVO and have it modified for the later mounts. Or you can do this yourself if you are competent with a welder and have a 915 mount.
Another option is to use a 915 mount and relocate bolt holes and reinforce. There are some polyurethane mounts that can be installed. I have never tried these before.

I just looked. Rebel Racing has these mount inserts. They are pressed in.

Thanks Jamie yes I just saw the Rebel ones right after I posted that. Contacted them they said they are a two piece mount that goes in easily after drilling/cutting out the old rubber one. Seems like the best option.
