billet decklid hinge?

Does anyone know who makes billet aluminum decklid hinges? I saw them on the "911BR" project bisimoto did. would be interested in picking up a set

If you dont want to spend a grip of cash you can always strip, drill and plate rhem zinc and polish. I have had really good success plating at home, plus its fun.

Im also curious about the hinges Bergo posted. Any one know if you can buy those, or some similar, somewhere?

Ive seen the ones at restoration-design. A coupe other places carry similar ones but they all retail for close to $550. Which is a little steep because, if I decide to do new hinges, i am also looking for a set of hinges to match for the hood.

The linked adv. didn't mention they were made out of billet aluminum (carved from a block). Thus, maybe Bisimoto's is a custom-made hinge. In that case, you could commission a machine shop to replicate a pair for yourself.

Their description of water-jet cutting makes me think they were fabricated from aluminum plate with a TIG-welded corner piece.

One option is to cut lightening holes in the factory steel hinges with a set of hole saws or drill bits. While the visual effect will be apparent and racier, the weight savings of aluminum will be negligible, and you'll have your own set of one-off custom rear hinges. Spend your mod money elsewhere.

Posting for si Banker who's not of the computer generation. We spoke on the phone and he told me a little about these decklid hinges. They're CNC machined out of a single billet. You can drill them if you like. He's getting back to me regarding weight. Significantly less expensive than the other offering and I'm only guessing lighter and stronger. Finish looks great!


Things to note: I have not seen these in person. I have no connection to the maker. Pm him for purchase/questions/arguments/compliments.

He's also making other parts: optima battery holder, seat slider cup holder, and front hinges. I'll post another thread on those.
