Sound When Turning While Clutch Depressed

Hi all-- I have an odd question that I'll throw out here to see if anyone else have run into this.

Every now and then, I find myself taking a low speed turn with the clutch depressed (a bit too slow for second gear, no downshifting into first...). It's usually when I'm pulling into a residential neighborhood or navigating a parking lot. When I do this, I hear a rhythmic sound during the turn. I wish I could articulate what the sound sounds like, but it's hard to put into words. Nothing scary like a screech, scrap, or grinding, but more like a series of clunking while i complete the turn. The sound isn't very pronounced. I am 95% sure that this sound doesn't occur when turning while the clutch is engaged (in gear).

Any initial thoughts? I can try to record the sound next time, but I'm not sure if my equipment can capture the sound.

CV joint? Check the CV boots for damage.

CV joint as said.
you should hear it going straight. suspension movement can make the noise worse.
its not like a front wheel drive car.
second would be a wheel bearing but those you should also hear all the time unless the turn is loading the bad bearing. try left and right turns.

When in gear, there would be more motor noise and likely a less acute angle of corner. (Possibly less noise from a CV or tranaxle issue). Cheers

For posterity, turns out noise is normal LSD noise. Low speed turns are often tight-angled turns, which causes mechanical noice from my LSD (says wrench).

Do you hear it only when turning? Or any time you depress the clutch pedal? If the latter, likely the throw-out bearing.

Edit: oops, should have read to the end.
