Hmmm....
That oil return tube should be replaced, it looks kind of kinked and will probably start leaking soon. Regards, Andrew M

anyone we know? Holy cow--thats gonna leave a mark!
It would be kinda fun to put this engine back into a car and somehow get it on a rack at a local shop for a PPI. I would love to see the look on the mechanics face when he drops down the sound cover and sees the bottom of the engine. Chris |

God, I hate it when that happens!
That piston/conrod just could not be confined to such a small space, it yearned to be free!

Just think if you were the guy following him when it let go. Like at about 120mph through a sweeper on a fast racetrack.
Thoughts like that make me ponder a full rollcage and a fire suppression system.

Okay, I'm not 100% sure from the photo, however, this is what happens when the rod bolts let go and loosen up. This affliction affects all the 3.6 engines (I believe the 993s too!), and the 3.3 Turbos, and the 3.2 Carreras. Replace your rod bolts with aftermarket ARP or RaceWare bolts when you rebuild your engine!

Old story...you can pay me now..or PAY me later!!
Of course there is no 100% iron-clad that it won't still happen. I have had several "grenades" in the engine compartment in the past....it's never any fun...and you always look at it with 20/20 hindsight....and can figure out exatly what you did wrong. Now I have to go out to the garage and hug my '69 ...just to calm us both down. Good thing there's not a screen in the garage...she would drop her bottom end in sympathy....LOL Bob
