Looking for recommendations on where to "revive" a '71 911T in the Los Angeles area

Hey All,

As the title states, I'd appreciate some recommendations on where to revive a newly-found 1971 911T. The car has 30k miles on it, but has been sitting for the better part of 20 years.

I'm in the Los Angeles area, but could have to car towed to a shop in a neighboring city, within reason. No need to mention Scott's Independent. I know him, and his incredibly backed-up queue, and his pricing.

Importantly, I am looking for a reputable shop to assess the situation and do what is necessary to bring the car back to life (fluid flush, new rubbers/seals, gas tank, etc.) and get her back on the road. Not looking to do a rebuild on the engine (unless it is deemed absolutely necessary). Planning to handle the restoration ... down the road.

Thanks in advance.

Another detail to mention is that the oil will break down and some of it turns to compounds that eat the bearing material. No one can guarantee the results of all the work invested in making a longer storage engine come to life again.

Best wishes with your project
Dave

1) There is a reason why the queue is incredibly backed up...worth the wait..
regarding pricing..only have to pay once, never had to bring it back.. never a "just bring it back and I'll charge you AGAIN"
Using them for 15 years

COMPLETE rebuild on my 2.4 S MFI with 2.2 S P&C's..224 hp that was several years ago..
When Scott and Dan get back from driving their personal Early 911's from So Cal to Daytona 24 Hour round trip, my 2.9 twinplug MFI is next up..waited 7 months for the queue

Another shop to call:
911 Design
in Montclair
Loren Beggs
Complete restorations

You're lucky in that there are several shops with really good reputations in the LA area. But, as I've been taking to my car to TRE for the 10 years I've had it here, Dave would be the first guy to get my call for a project like this.

As it's always nice to be closer to the shop that's working on your car, let us know where you're located and maybe someone can make a recommendation local to you.

If it were me I'd take it to Dorian Valenzuela at DV-Mechanics in Montebello: https://www.dvmechanics.com/

Considering all the old air cooled expertise in the SoCal region, I would do the project by having the engine & tranny restored separately from the interior and the body shell. Get the body shell into the queue for painting (about 6 months), in the mean time restore engine & tranny. In parallel do the interior at the same time.

San Diego may be further then you want to go, but Black Forest Automotive is great.

So many good shops with nice owners.
If we were closer to Marco the owner of TLG I'd have him service my 911.
