Just checking. Is there a minimum of $500 fee for each lot on which I bid? Thus, if I win 5 lots, in addition to my winning bid amount I'll pay $500 per lot or $2500? Thanks

I read the terms. Each lot the buyer pays a 7% buyers fee with a minimum of $500 per lot. So if you bought a lot for roughly $7K you would pay $500. Very expensive, but Hagerty like BAT have the HP to demand anything they want now.

Not sure who is putting together these ads but they should think about doing more accurate lists and descriptions. Seems this format is mostly geared towards a locals only crowd. Check out the pictures vs the list. https://www.hagerty.com/marketplace/auction/0000-Porsche-Parts/6y0RK2w9z91JN9uGS9BfUd Also, confirmed with Hagerty that there is a $500 minimum per lot. |

Wow - that's quite the extensive collection. The $500 buyers fee per lot is probably going to scare a few folks from bidding.

Plus. Read that they will collect 7% sales tax as well. This is gonna be a nightmare. Since this is essentially an “EBay” type of auction. Most people will assume No fees. I predict many people will back out of purchases

I do Not see the $500 minimum fee mentioned anywhere in the taxes and fees section of these listings? Where are yall seeing it? Or have they removed it?

After all the promotional work that went into getting this auction in front of lots of eyes, I was really disappointed by the vague descriptions and the apparent lack of any effort to separate out lots. Even when they do list a part you might want, you can bid on a set of gauges so long as you're okay with a $500 fee and getting stuck with a bucket full of unidentified transmission parts? It makes no sense (unless the goal is just to get everything out of there at any price).
This doesn't feel high end, it feels like bidding on storage lockers. I can't really understand who the buyer would be for most of these lots other than a local Porsche specialist shop that's willing to roll the dice and chance getting a load of useless stuff for a few diamonds in the rough. |

Seems like it was too much work for someone to lookup part numbers to get the descriptions right.
For example, Lot 62 are clearly 3.2 heads. |

OK, here's the deal.
If no one else bids, I'll buy it all and have a fire sale to get all this stuff back in play. I made a mistake when I sold my parts store because the guy who bought it really isn't a Porsche guy. He seems to be sitting on most of the parts. I even found a guy who needed a 914/6 case that was in the inventory that was a match for his chassis. The new owner of my parts store refused to sell it, even those he had 5 other 914/6 cases. Hopefully the parts in this sale end up on the market rather than some hoarders rat hole.

Well, at $500 a pop, sales tax and almost no details on the underlying parts, no need to thank me, not so interested…. GLWA

Full transparency, I bid on and won 2 lots in the collection. A rebuilt transmission and a project 911
I will say that the listings were incredibly vague and there wasn’t very much information that was specific to each lot. The car was described as “white” instead of presenting it with its factory color name of Ivory White. There was very little description of the condition, I don’t know if the motor spins or what. They described a “brown box” of parts that go with the car but did not include any photos. It only was reported that it had a title when another bidder asked about it. Admittedly I spent a little more than I wanted but the photos were convincing that the car was at least rust free. And seeing as I had won the transmission already and I have a motor for the car at home, it wasn’t a big deal. The transmission is more of the same. I only know the gear ratios and final drive because the tag that David had installed on it following the rebuild. I think that the haphazard nature of listing the parts specifically contributed to some lower sales then I would have guessed and to be honest I don’t know if an auction like that was the best format to sell the parts. From what I could tell, most of the people bidding against me were Motorsport shops. The engines went for insane money, IMHO, especially without any verification of their condition and an unknown build sheet. I guess folks are just happy to have a power plant touched by the man himself. All in all it definitely felt like a weird auction, but I’m happy with my purchases |

I do admit the descriptions were vague as our Hagerty representatives were not specialists on the early 911 but they did their very best to describe what was in their presence. I did help advise what we had as I am very familiar with most parts that my friend David Glenn had. Let me know if you have any questions on the parts and the project 911 you bought. If it was the 73 915 RS Clone transmission, it had a ZF Limited slip and a bonus if you were not aware of it.

I bought the 72 Sportomatic project. And the Early 915 gearbox with an unknown LSD of some kind in it. Overall the customer service was excellent, no complaints there. The fees, in my opinion were transparent (they had a very detailed explanation when you went to actually bid). I was just very surprised by the vagueness of the listing. Marvin was helpful answer questions and all. And Ray Schaffer is a gentleman. Just trying to be constructive and say that things could have been more detailed. IE I bought a car with a box of parts and have no clue what that includes. Overall I’m a gambler and took the risk on a car that, although underrepresented in my opinion, was honestly represented
