73T Targa - Parting Out

UPDATE (11/28/07) : THE CAR IS SOLD - PENDING COMPLETION OF THE TRANSACTION

UPDATE : I spoke to the owner of the car this morning and we have agreed to try to sell the car complete minus the seats before parting it out. He would like to get $10K for the car which is why he went the direction of parting it out. I'm going to go see the car again tomorrow and check the engine and transmission and take more pictures of the car. I will probably post it here on Pelican and maybe on eBay as a complete car. If it doesn't sell quickly I will continue this process. I have the complete list - in order of all the parts everyone wants and I will pick up where we left off if the car doesn't sell. Sorry to change directions on everyone but several other Pelicans, including myself, don't feel a car in this condition should be parted. I'll keep everyone posted.

A friend of mine bought this car for the sport seats and a few other parts. Since he doesn't use computers I've offered to help him sell off the parts. I wish he would have bought it a few weeks ago. I just spent countless hours searching for parts for my 71T restoration and this sure would have made it easier. Anyway... I'm sure someone is going to ask why he's parting it out. It is a completely rust free 73T with all the S options on the outside. Initially we were going to restore it but there are issues with the registration (no it's not stolen - We have the pink slip). The car has been sitting at a tow yard in the desert for 17 years and at some point it was re-tagged by the CHP so all the vin plates are missing except the one riveted on by the CHP. He ran it through the CHP before buying it so we know it's clean but it doesn't make for a great restoration.

So... Here we go. The car is about 30 minutes from my house and as I said I'm the middle man on this so bear with me. He is also finalizing the list of parts he wants to keep so some of the items on the car may not be for sale (but 95% are).

EMAIL ONLY (through the link) - NO PMs

Let me know what parts you want and I'll get prices for you. No part too small.

Here are some pictures to get started - If you want a picture of a specific part send me an email.

Few comments:

- He is not yet sure he wants to sell the front bumper but is willing to entertain offers and he will decide in the next few days.

- The engine is a 2.4T CIS engine. Unless he gets a good offer on the complete engine it will likely be parted so let me know what parts you want.

Hi John. I'd like to purchase the foglight switch if it's the correct one for a '73. Does it pull and rotate? Thanks, Gary

John,

I sent you an email. I'm interested in buying the whole car. The VIN situation is not a problem for me.

Hi Bobby - I asked him the same question for myself. I like to see these cars stay together but I don't have room or time for another project. He wants to get $10K out of it which is why he decided to part it. It's really too bad because it is a complete rust free/straight car (the VIN plates is the only drawback)

I think I answered all the emails - This is going to be fun!

tcb646 - $25 + shipping for the wiper switch sound fair? One of the rear lenses is really faded from sitting in the desert sun. I'll take some pictures for you. I'll pull the pedal board when I'm down there and get some pictures of those as well.

elferrad - $75 + shipping for the flag mirror. I'll try to post some pics. It has some pits in the chrome.

Todd Simpson - $75 for the shift assembly w/ knob. The knob has the typical grazing. I'll try to post a pic.

Hi, how much for the 911T, PORSCHE and 2.4 badges if they are metallic, plus the rear hinges (the ones that support the deck lid and hold it to the body)?
Thanks,
Fernando.
