2.2s motor

Keen on the package. I understand it will need a bit of work. I wouldn't rebuild myself. However, I think it's worth $3k to me. That's us dollars. I can give you a few more kiwi ones if you like. Would need to arrange shipping at my expense. Assume MFI wouldn't need resetting given only 1 year use?

I have a 1970 911 T screaming for some authentic power.

What do you say?

Richard

I need a 2.2S engine, I would buy it for more than $3k but much less than the $10k you were trying to get - too much. I have professionally worked on numerous 911 engines and there is not much showing that this engine really has low mileage.

I am kicking myself for not buying a local 2.2S engine for $5k in same condition as the one offered here. Sold on eBay for $5000 less than a year ago, no kidding.

I am a domestic buyer that is serious if you want to talk. Sorry to push the Kiwis out, my mum is a Kiwi.

MMMMMMM. Let me know more about the oil pressure issue and costs of repair in hours guestimate and I'll consider adjusting my offer. Probably need to chat about this what's you phone contact details.

My offer is serious - not confused.

Cheers

Read the links, this motor has been "For Sale" since 2006.

It reminds me of the crazy old farmer that puts his antique car out in the front yard with a for sale sign just so he has someone to talk to, with no intentions of ever selling it.

Ha ha, thats funny - kinda like the 1969 912 targa for sale here in San Diego on Craigslist - it has continuously been listed for the last 3 years! and the price is climbing.

To be fair to us responding he just decided to put the parts up for sale on this post the other day. I saw this engine for sale when it first came up years ago. I'd buy it but for half the asking.

The engine is for sale, but I am in no hurry to sell it. Obviously. I will wait until the market catches up to my prices.

The main reason i waited so long was because i wanted to tear the engine apart to verify the condition. I had other stuff more important to do, so it waited. Now I finally tore it down and put it up for sale.

Is that ok with you guys? If not please tell me what I should do. I want to make sure all of you are happy.

The MFI alone should be worth more than $3k. If I had a 2.2S I would pay more for original fuel injection than PMOs.

As far as the bypass, a ~4mm hole was drilled in the wrong location. It would need to be tapped and plugged. I dont know, maybe an hour labor? Then a new hole drilled if the bypass is wanted.

wrong location for bypass?? this puts into question that someone worked on this engine that was not up to speed, there could other things wrong
too pricey for the risk.
youre asking as much as I want for a couple of S engines(69and 73) I have to offer that are still in the cars, running, with good compression with excellent leakdown numbers and can be test driven to satisfaction.
I doubt the market will "catch up" with your prices with this unknown variable.
just my .02

Ok, let me make sure I understand this...

You are not interested in my stuff. But you have to make a negative public statement? Do you flame on everybody's ads, or am I special? I reread my post and I dont see where I ask for criticism. Did I miss something?

How about this; read the ad. If not interested, move on. Keep your 02.

I'm interested. But $10K seems a lot to me. I have a 7R case so maybe I should just rebuilt it with s components?

If you really want to sell I am truely interested. Email me. cheers R

Richard, no offense, but you are not the buyer I am looking for. i am looking for somebody that needs real S parts to make his car original.

If i were you, I would use your 7R case, get a 2.4 crank and rods, some E cams, and use the rest of the stuff from your 2.2T engine. Much cheaper than my stuff and will produce an awesome engine. You will NOT be disappointed.

interested if price was realistic. nothing negative said but informative input
from someone with some real S motor selling experience on here.
granted you didnt ask for it but on a forum, you gotta expect that.
you could always ask the moderators to set up a vote so to have comments restricted
like they do for in the cars for sale.
I feel you,.... I mean not liking people putting in their .02 cents makes perfect sense.
maybe you outta post it on Ebay where I believe you could actually find a buyer.
I've seen a 72 S in unknown condition but complete, clean and could turn by hand
sold for $10K buy it now. another unknown 72 S motor with a buy-it now of $8500 was snatched a year earlier.
another 72S engine on the Sregistry in a crate unknown condition but complete and turning sold quickly for $8500. so ur in the ball park.

that's where I'd put it...if I really wanted to sell mine but I am a reluctant seller of rare stuff such as an S or RS motor and other unobtanium stuff.
I think they are worth their weight but Pelicanites wont cough up that kind of dough.
they just know too much. the Eu will buy this as its even a rarer thing to come buy over the pond, the economy is better too.

Complimentary bump. I bought the heads and they were as described and exactly what I wanted. Brian was accomodating and did everything he said he would, including taking additional pics and measuring the port sizes for me. I offered $1200, he countered with $1500 and we had a deal. He shipped the heads out the same day he received my check. I would have liked to get a better deal of course, but he knows what he has and what it's potentially worth. I had been searching for the properly dated S heads for my '71 S for about 2 years and thought I had better step up. Finding a good deal on most anything "S" specific is tough enough. Being 1st in line to take advantage of a good deal is even tougher.

Hi I will take anyone's concours 1971S for $25k too.

Man sorry you have to put up with the flames.

Good luck with sale.

If you want some more action on these parts you might want to post over on the Early 911S Registry too.
