Porsche Crest eBay pulled my 930 3.5L engine listing

eBay pulled my listing for stating payment terms of: bank wire transfer.

Since eBay and PayPal are owned by the same company..this was a no no.

I just resisted.. Please see this new listing here.

New Item Number: 150424704135

Also more info on engine, gearbox and a 930 flatnose roller. Porsche 930 Flatnose : For Private Sale

yep, it has everything to do with 13% commission so factor that into your sale. its like dealing with a thief...you just have to know how they steal and change the game often...

Ummm, wire transfer, Western Union, etc. have a much larger incidence of fraud.

Money disappears, and the scammed try to collect from eBay.

That is the MAIN reason for that rule.

Ebay is NOT actively trying to screw people, and they are not a non-profit.

I wish I could afford that engine right now! That is sweet. Right in my backyard too.

Looks like a double negative; it's not.

I could have said "they are a for-profit business".

It's all about profit. Evilbay is useful, but protect yourself.
Absolutely gorgeous motor.

Holey crap, nice motor. I was hoping the reserve and starting bid were at $2,500.00. Dream on right?

Ebay also didn't approve of me saying, "I reserve the right to end listing" if sold locally. Apparently everyone has this right but you are not allowed to say it.

Also, an attorney friend said bank wire with bill of sale is safest. I personally have gotten hosed a few times with both cashiers checks and money orders.

Of course PayPal needs to profit from there service, it's a given, it just needs to be understood that they are conglomerates! Yes the 13% is going to hurt if it goes through.

Learning is fun.

How else to connect with worthy owners on a global scale? Huge fan of Pelican..Thanks to Wayne!

Thanks for the compliments on the engine too. I think Ferdinand Porsche would approve.

and to think that Meg Whitman wants to run California like Ebay
California is not a company to run simply for profits like Ebay, its a state, its a community, its people....we need someone who will run California for the benefit of its people....people over profit..not the other way around.

LOL Rich: true, you don't have much to brag about when your former company's nickname is "Evilbay."

Kraftday: I gotta say that's the single best listing I've ever seen on eBay -- for anything. If I were in the market for an engine like that I'd be willing to pay a premium price.

Any system (States included) base on money can only survive if we keep consuming and working. So in essence we were born into slavery. Non disposable items just cost more upfront. Just my two cents...

Thanks techweenie. I really want to witness the exhaust glowing on the dyno!

I think Meg Whitman being elected Guv would be the biggest blessing California could bestow on itself!
Perhaps she would try to run California responsibly, and more like a business, which would benefit all the people. Perhaps not spending the tax payers money like a drunken sailor (California makes sailors look like cheapskates) and leaving the state bankrupt and BILLIONS in debt like all the former regimes. (both Repubs and Dems)
Left Cali in the early 70s and never looked back!
Just my $.02

here's your change for ur .02
A blessing?? oh please.....you left Cali in the 70"s?? so how would you know whats good for California.
Ebay went from user friendly at 3% with amazing traffic and profit to a greedy ungrateful 8 to 12% not to mention forcing the use of PP adding another 3% plus from parent co. Paypal..
Ebay has lost 40% of its biz in the last years and currently
is experiencing an all time low listing inventory and reduced traffic.

many here have left Ebay disgusted with high fees and renamed it EvilBay
Craigslist and forums like Pelican are used more.

what about former regimes?? when Governator Swchartznegger took office, California had an incredible surplus in the billions, of course you left and never looked back so you wouldnt know.

Budget Surplus and the Economy

Im sure Im not the only one boycotting ebay and paypal. Fees are outragous.. I was charger $120 for an auction for a truck that didnt sell..

Paypal screwed me.. ebayed an electric motor in the original box with original packing.. UPS damaged it, denied the claim and so paypal sided with the buyer..

Im done.

And why was Grey Davis bounced out of office? I guess it was because he managed the state so well and had HUGE surpluses, right. " Don't pee on my leg and tell me it's raining " As far as leaving Cali in the seventies, the minute I crossed the border to the rest of the US, I didn't lose my ability to read and make rational judgements. Cali is a trainwreck and the model for what got all of us in the mess we are in now! Spend, spend ,spend, put it on the credit card and worry about it later. Don't get me wrong, I love the state and miss many things about it, but IOUs instead of a tax refund check---yea!
Just my $.01 as you probably don't think it's worth $.02

Wasn't there a motor for sale a while back ? None of this compliments this excellent engine.
I've built one of these things. Look at the cleaning and all the fasteners. Lots of effort. Nice job.

I had the same thing happen and went to live help,
they only object to the word "wire" because of all the Western Union wire Frauds they had a while back, and scammers still trying to use it.
If you use the term Direct Bank Transfer you will not have a problem.

Tom is right. eBay is reacting to their perceived lightning rod for scams. They want to make money ... don't we all. But allowing terms that can get their buyers in trouble is not smart business. Even if Kraftday is on the up 'n' up which I'm sure he is, eBay is still "arm's length" and there are a lot of fellows from Nigeria or Russia who would love to scam a few grand from people with a picture of a very nice looking engine.

I had a scammer try to cheat a Mac buyer using my eBay user name by offering a Western Union pay option. Fortunately the buyer got wise and contacted me directly. The local police nearly caught the scammer in a sting. eBay was very good about helping me keep my good name and feedback history under a new user name.

PayPal may seem expensive but the security and privacy are worth a lot if you do business on the Internet. Just add the fees to your price and be happy that both parties have protections.

mycarrera2.7rs - Thank you. This really made sence to me that they react to the term "wire". According to thier policy explaination, "Direct Bank Transfer" seemed against the rules too though.

In any event, those are the terms! Let's not forget the cost fo taxes wrapped up in this package! No extra charge. Now Mahle PC sets are over $6000 new.
