Got the condenser last night, exactly as shown in the pic.
However, "will be cleaned and fins straigtened before shipping" did not happen. What kind of degreaser were you intending to use to clean the condenser? What do you recommend? |

If you feel like spending the bucks you can use a dedicated AC refrigerant flush to flush through evaporator's and condensers tubes, or simply mineral spirits. However what ever you use inside the units must be thoroughly evaporated before you install in the vehicle and charge with refrigerant. Same goes for the exterior of the condensers or evaporators; you can also use on the exterior any water based degreaser and once again wash thoroughly to remove residual cleaner: make sure you do not allow water to enter inside the units.
For straightening of the fins, which "normally" due get bent in transit or when you handling them, a good pair of mechanical tweezer's (point ends) works fine; and a pint of Becks with patience. A light shot of spray paint on condensers offer's copper coils a bit of corrosion resistance, however aluminum coils and fins normally form their oxide on the the surface which is a natural barrier. Don't paint evaporators. Be sure your battery is not dripping acids down on the front condenser; white residue on the condenser or grill is a tell tale sign. |
