Having parted out cars for years to pay for the addiction, there is very little that is junk anymore. Hell, every single longhood I cut up, which at the time was the right thing to do, I'd pay triple what I did back then because every single one is now 10X the price.

Don't like what people are selling? Who the F cares as long as they honestly describe their part. If they don't, there are plenty of good folks here who will help out.

The OP contributes nothing to Classifieds, have this moved to OT.

Contrary to what ABurn believes, that filter is a great piece if you are into concourse. pull off the functional filter, slap on the "for show" filter and win your award!

Rants!? I have one.

Selling junk is one thing... Asking for "pay-pal" fees to by paid by the buyer is another all together.

Pay-Pal works as a safe way to collect money quickly & easily for the seller... Why would the buyer pay those fees?

Feel free to advertize your junk, just be sure to absorb the Pay-Pal fees when you sell it.

Hilarious stuff. Have to say some of the sellers would fit right into the book of dreams. Thats what we called those classic books where they add an extra zero to the price.

However, the market dictates the price. If something stays for sale for a long time, would indicate a rethink on price perhaps?

Because it provides the very same ease of transaction and protections for the buyer!

Now having said that, if I have a low dollar item for sale, I don't even think about paypal fees just like I never used to think about how much it cost me to get my printed checks. I am happy to absorb them.

Now if it's a high dollar item where the fees become a substantial chunk of money, then I'll ask to split the fees 50/50 because both the seller and buyer benefit. In equal measure too I might add.

how about not calling something RARE. we know what is rare and what is common, and just because it is old does not mean it is rare.

Grateful Dead's St. Stephen says it best (One Man Gathers What Another Man Spills)

Saint Stephen with a rose, in and out of the garden he goes,
Country garden in the wind and the rain,
Wherever he goes the people all complain.
Stephen prospered in his time, well he may and he may decline.
Did it matter, does it now? Stephen would answer if he only knew how.
Wishing well with a golden bell, bucket hanging clear to hell,
Hell halfway twixt now and then,
Stephen fill it up and lower down and lower down again.
Lady finger, dipped in moonlight, writing "What for?" across the morning sky.
Sunlight splatters, dawn with answer, darkness shrugs and bids the day goodbye.
Speeding arrow, sharp and narrow,
What a lot of fleeting matters you have spurned.
Several seasons with their treasons,
Wrap the babe in scarlet colors, call it your own.
Did he doubt or did he try? Answers aplenty in the bye and bye,
Talk about your plenty, talk about your ills,
One man gathers what another man spills.
Saint Stephen will remain, all he's lost he shall regain,
Seashore washed by the suds and foam,
Been here so long, he's got to calling it home.
Fortune comes a crawlin', calliope woman, spinnin' that curious sense of your own.
Can you answer? Yes I can. But what would be the answer to the answer man?

I know what you mean. I replaced the shocks on my '95 993 with (70k miles) and didn't even think about asking for the original ones back. Saw used ones for sale for $300. Really - used?

Not to the fellow that wants to have his original date coded, Porsche marked shocks rebuilt so that he can gain an edge showing a car.

I'm guilty of buying a used original set of rear Konis for my 70S. Proper date codes, Porsche marks and even the factory yellow banding.

You just don't have a good handle on the air cooled market.

I dont want to be argumentative so dont take it that way ~ but I do want to point out that when I go to ... say the gas station. The gas station does not ask for me to pay the Visa fees (similar to pay-pal right). They absorb that because that simple pay service could be why the customer came in. Ease of payment.

I do the same thing at my retail establishment. I accept credit cards & pay-pal to make it so a customer can easily transact with me. And please note that retail places like mine dont bury the fees into the invoice either. My price is the same whether it is paid by cash, or pay-pal (my price is set well before anyone can choose their mode of payment) from $1.00 to $thousands. That is how it works. I want to sell something, so I make it easy for the buyer to purchase it. I cant think of a store that does not do it that way. In fact Pelican is the same way. Look at their prices... No matter if you pay with visa, mastercard, amex, pay-pal or check. Its the same price. The buyer does not pay the fees. And they dont ask for them.

You do it the way you want, but I cant for the life of me see why this benefit (that I see as mostly for the seller) would be pushed onto the buyer.

I bought a used coil a few weeks ago. It's beautiful and works fine.

I had posted a few weeks before asking my options for a new coil for my SC, since the new production Bosch parts are apparently junk. I got no responce, including from you.

So since a used Bosch coil is apparently worthless junk, what are my options should my SC coil fail? Do I scrap the car?

Thanks
MSD Blaster 2 hi vibration coil sold by our host is a great replacement...

Do you know where the date codes are on the front struts? I have a set with one marked 2 83 and the other 24 83 which I assumed means they were built in the 2nd and 24th weeks of 1983. Konis were optional on 911s through 77 but I am sure they could have made more year after year, just not sure why they would.

Any help is appreciated.

Hilarious!! Afterburn

Lighten up Francis.

The guy admits he hasn't had his unbranded coffee and he has a point.

People look at me funny when I complain about the value of my car skyrocketing but I really, really love the insolar sometimes snobby often obsessive compulsive group we have here.

The parts now demand silly money, the cars aren't driven they're worshipped and we've drawn an unsavory element to boot......

That said I have a cracked sun beaten rebuildable dash that'll fit an '86 thru '92 911 that I'd like $250 for.....you see I need some used sport shocks for my '84.......

Again, My son bought and we installed a used set of adjustable Konis on his 944. He's a college student (paying his own way, by his own preference) and new Konis (or any other quality shock) cost several times what he paid for these.

His car is working much better at a price he could pay.

If you so strongly object to what other people are buying, what are you doing here?

Life is short, don't give yourself an aneurysm.
