Soda Blasting

I am almost ready to strip the bulk of my engine sheet metal and other components. The general sheet metal is not an issue. The air cleaners,
oil filler and oil filler I intend to have soda blasted. The insides of these components will be masked to prevent the abrasive from getting inside.

As soda is water soluble I will wash all the parts before paint or powder coating. Does anyone have any experience with soda blasting? I have read a number of accounts of disasters after sand blasting with aggregate dust remaining in the parts and later entering the engine. Do you think I'm OK soda blasting these parts? Comments?

Thanks dgsaz

I would prep the filler and filter housings by hand. Just grab some sand paper turn on the radio and have at it, they are small and should be knocked out in a hour or so.

Are the filters the two piece style with the element or the older screen one piece units? If they are the older type those need to be prepped by hand using a wire brush and some sandpaper. They need to be painted not powder coated because the powder coat will fill in the small air gaps and minimize air intake, if they are the two piece units just blast them and make sure they are wiped down well enough.
