Hello guys I'm TJ from San Antonio TX. Just got me a new project 1967 912 coupe SUNROOF Ivory White.

sunroof coupes are rare, approximately 100 65-69s listing in the Registry these days
to tag on to John's comment, Nadellas are rare also, found on 904 and 906 racecars, as well as 911s and 912s 65-66. If you don't stay original and swap them out for CVs, they might bring $$ to fund your project 912 Registry -* Nadella Halfshafts in '65-'66 Porsche (TM) 912

COOL thanks for the info. My plane is to keep it all stock. Any one have info on sunroof cranks? Mine doesn't work and not sure where to turn it in the back. So far the only thing that doesn't work is one low beam and the sunroof.

Found some rust under thick bondo under the back window. Hope I can find some new pieces, or its a outlaw 912 . I just wont be able to drive in the rain.

You have a staggering amount of work to do. I am just completing the restoration of a 65 Porsche factory 912 coup. It has taken nearly 6 months, 10 hours daily, 7 days a week, and mine was not too rusty. I could not imagine it would take so long.
I am a body man and a long time fabricator. I now know virtually everything about these cars from doing this project. My next projects are 65 911, 69 911S, and a 66 911, two of which are rusty like yours, or nearly so. I suggest finding a place to sand blast everything once you have all of the welding completed. It will make things a lot easier when its time to apply your coatings. You will need to fabricate the rear window lower corners unless you can find a donor car. The whole rear window lower area is a tough area to repair. |

Pulled everything BUT the doors. I'm looking for a show to media blast it but just might go ahead and sand it down with a hand sander. I'll also be heading up to Austin VeeDub to see if there junk 911's have the "C" pillar I need. Cross your fingers.

Good luck with your car I have just one question why do people have to take everything apart. Wouldn't it be smarter to take it apart when you know your ready to put it back together. It looks like you know what your doing Have fun.

You can take it apart and have a nice paint job OR tape everything off and have a crappy westside paint job. I like doing things the Right way.

I think he meant "why do people disassemble cars without a good restoration plan....."-----------------easier to take things apart than to put them together. I've been working on cars all my life and early on was guilty of this same issue on occasion. Hey, it's a common disease--that's why there are so many disassembled and abandoned project cars out there!

Well If you do it right the first time there is no fixing it a second time. You can't do good body work and have a nice paint job if you don't take it apart. Maybe i should post some before and after of some of my past projects. Have confidence in your fellow man.

Sorry, the PO pulled the motor apart. Not sure why, but the heads have the valves removed. I'm taking it to a friends shop so he can put it back together with all the tin and carbs. I can put a VW motor together with my eyes closed but never worked on a 912 motor. I need to go pickup some more cutting discs for my grinder so i can finish the passenger side pan. Stay tuned.

I got the passenger side pan cut out and the new one trimmed up and sitting in place, Just need to start drilling holes to weld it in.

Finished the top of the passenger side pan, still need to put some welds under it near the tunnel. You can also see where i plan on cutting out the driver side.

Wurth seam sealer. But I think any reputable brand will work for you. You want a brushable seam sealer.
