Dumb question

I 've finally finished building my 2056 Turbo and will hopefully fire it this weekend! While building it I replaced the gaskets around the sensor in the bottom of the 2.0 case. While building a 1.8 for my friend I noticed that it did not have this sensor and wire coming out of it. What is this sensor and wire for, I imagine since this is an original 2.0 case that it was something for one of the center console guages. Is it oil temp or what. Kind of a dumb question since I'm this far along, I would of had to ask what it was sooner or later since I would of had to plug it into something!

Yes, that is the oil temp sensor for the gauge.
